The strong, hard headed, common sonse of some very nractlcal and sen siblo men Is very sure to come to the front when sucn a body of farmers and fruit growers get together as was present at the Chamber of Com Jnerce Friday afternoon and evening. Thorp seems to be some Inclination on the part of the various sections of Coos County to be jealous of one another and It appears that a sep arate fruit growers' association has Ijeen organized or Is being organized nt Myrtle Point and is called the aiyrtlo Point Fruit Growers' Asso ciation. It was not a mistake to or ganize it, but it was a mistake to call It anything else than the Coos County Fruit Growers' Association. It was not a mistake to hold Its meet ings at Myrtle Point and to have a station there, but Its headquarters could be at Coqulllo with 'less frio tion than at Myrtle Point, because the latter Is the county seat. Jt was not a mlstnko to undertake to have an Inspector appointed, but it was a mistake to let anything llko jealously of any kind creep in. Jealousy and derision never yet pro duced a good apple. They never .inde a good market. They never .ic'-unuilated profits. They never yet succeedod In anything and utter and complete failure Is the history of their activity. But the hardheaded, common tsense of ono of the speakers who had xio fear of enemies and was Indiffer ent to any friendship not based on the truth was well expressed when troni a fruit buyer's point of view he called attention to the fact that there must "bo three stations for the collection of apples for the market mamoly, Myrtlo Point, Coqulllo and Marslifleld; that tho headquarters ,ould be anywhero but that the ap- ilia would havo to como to Mnrsh iield for shipment. That Is indeed, hu true situation. Let tho head quarters, therefore, bo wherever they van bo located with tho least fric tion, but lot tho fruit growers get clown to business. They should raise apples and not try to cultivate jeal uusiua. Tho present product of 25,000 boxes of shipping npples would not bo sufficient to supply the Jaoim market if Coos Hay should get I!",100 population. While tho peo ple of tho county divide on the ques tion of whether tho Coqulllo Valley r the Coos Hay district produces the ruu-si apples, Koguo Hiver, Yakima, Hood Kivor and other localities, will be shipping apples to Coos liny to wupply its niarkot. Tho Coqulllo is :i Kurd n spot nnd ha3 squaro miles r rich land where the rest of tho -uiiHty has acres, but If Coos Hay be-'otu-H a great city tho Coqulllo acres will bo worth hundreds whero now they nre worth tons of dollars. Tho aunie n true of Coos Day. Tho Co- utile Valley will be a garden Which will supply tho great city of tho I'm urc Until aro marr'ed to each other nnd family disturbers aro not Xrinid.- of either sldo. Lot us now ornreed to consider the question of WpploB.
