THE DAILY COOS m nn 1 m s FOR FOUR WEEKS Breakwater Will Go In Drydock and Capacity Will Be Enlarged HAVE NEW SCHEDULE The steamer Breakwater tailed from San Erancisco bound for this port yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. This is the last trip of this vessel before she goes in dry dock to be fitted so that she wil have accomodations for about 40 more passengers. Tho hold is also to be remodeled for the handling of lumber. New wenches are to bo installed in place of the ones' now being used. All of this work will require about four weeks time after which the Breakwater will run between Coos Bay, San Fran cisco, Portland. OHM WILL FIGHT COMMISSION Washington, May 23 It Is not the Intention of tho interstate com merce commission to await proceed ings to compel E. H. Harrlman to answer certain inquiries put to him at the New York Investigation before taking action on tho general subject or the investigation. In the opinion of the members of tho commission, It may be a year or two before a final decision can be reached regard ing tho refusal of Harrlman to an Bwer tho questions. Proceedings will bo instituted in New York the latter part of the month or the first of next month. It is expected If the court upholds the commission that Harrlman will carry the case to higher courts.. Should the lower courts rule In his favor It is proable that tho commiss ion will carry tho matter up. The case would have been brought earlier but the attorneys of the commission have been engaged in other work. Arguments In the Standard Oil cases which are taking place In St. Paul are occupying the attention of the Messers. Kellogg and Severance, and they will not be able to take up the Harrlman matter until after thee are finished. Without refer ence however to the determination o( the question, the commission will consider the merits of the general iu qulry Into the rliiriman lluet aud reach Its conclusion on the fact' presented. VENIRE FOR BOISE CASE IS SECURED Boise, May 22 By use of train, stage and horses and some active hustling Sheriff Shad Hodgin and hia deputies managed today to round up the majority of the men Included in the special venire of CO men Issued yesterday in Stunenburg case and they are all expected to bcon hand when the trial is resumed tomorrow afternoon. It has been decided that James H. Hawly, senior counsel fro the state will make the opening state ment. He and his associates had a con ference on tlios ubject today and spent some time considering the testi mony to be offered next week and the order In which it shall be offered. Notice has been given by the state to call Steve Adams as a witness. He is on the state list and it was placed on the stand. Tho matter is now in doubt and will not be determined until later.
