At a meeting of the members of the Congregational eburch on .last Thursday evening the -following resolutions were passed: Resolved, That we hereby extend our sincere thanks to Mrs. Grace Hanua Humphrey for the present of a beautiful silver baptismal font, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to Mrs. Humphrey. Resolved, That we hereby extend a vote of thanks to Rev. Plutarch S. Knight tor his presence at the dedication of our church, and the able terra on he preached on that occasion, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to Mr. Knight. Resolved, That we hereby extend a vote of thanks to Rev. J. F. The West Side Extension: At its last meeting the board of trade appointed one of the merobers to make a trip over the road between Corvallis and Portland and dis tribute the petitions for the connection with the main line. A letter received from hiin to-day asks that more petitions be sent him at once as every man, woman ana cniui, on the road is-anxiou to sign it. This looks like business and we may safely predict that ere long the California - overland express will be rushiug into our city. TheRoyce & Lansing company played in this city on Wednesday evening, mere were over 509 persons ia the audience. This is said, by Mr. Royce, to be the larg est audience they have showed to since they left San Francisco, coming overland.
