We put no man’s name o n our subscription list unless we have orders bona bo fide , to do. S is t e r s ’ S c h o o l B u i l d i n g . —One day last week we visited the new building in tended tor the use of the Sisters' School.— "We were surprised at the completeness and convenience o f the structure. The building is 75 feet long by 24 in w idth, and is two stories high. It has good cellars, arched with brick in the basement. In the main cellar the well is located which will furnish water for the use of the occu pants o f the b u ild in g .' The water from the well w ill be carried to the different por tions o f the house by a pum p. The first story is divided o ff into six room s o f con venient size for the uses for which they are intended, and all of them have venti lation from the outside. The second story is also divided o ff into six room s, includ ing the Chapel. The rooms here, as in the lower story, all have outside ventilation. The building is so roomed o ff that a large num ber o f scholars can be accom m odat ed, the school and recitation rooms being so arranged that the different departments w ill not conflict or intercept each other.— The plan of the building for a school was well conceived aud drawn up, and the con tractor and builder, John F. Chord, has done a good jo b , and followed the specifi cations. The style of architecture is unique but harmonious throughout. The whole of the inside of the building’ is to be hard- flnished with two coals o f plastering and will be com pleted by the 1st of July. A m a t e u r s .— Below will be found the re port of the receipts and expenditures of the Am ateur Com pany for the two nights played by them for the benefit of t-lie Pub lic School. Alm ost the whole of the ex pense was incurred in m aking the neces. sary preparations for the first performance w hich consumed the proceeds of that per form ance and a portion of the second. If the com pany had performed the third tim e as advertised the nett receipts would have been much larger, and would have went far towards liquidating the indebted ness o f our Public School W e hope the Com pany w ill conclude to give another performance at their earliest convenience. The follow ing report is made out by the Business Manager of the Association, and speaks for itself: J. P. B ow en, lum ber, $9,50; Bamberger & Frank, $13; S. Ottenheimer, $15,11; II. N.
