/ F riends an d F rien d sh ip . The Louisville Ledger says love is, very properly, the passion par bitter disenchantment, which no one can regild, a lonely combat with no one to strengthen your hands. And yet, this life, so sad, so tragic, lonely and barren as no one but 6rod knows, your portly, prosperous friend,— whose head is little better than that esculent which the omniverous Teu ton most yearns for, and whose bow els of compassion are but a weed grown garden patch, with chin in air and nose upturned, desecrates its mournful courage by his hollow praise and empty patronage! Away with such friendship! Bather com mend us to the simple soul who steals in upon our loneliness, and with loving eyes showing m ute caresses, with tender handsexpressing dumb but eloquent sympathy, the friend of our sorrow, the sun of our dark ness, true, patient, unselfish, giving all and asking nothing but leave to give. excellence of youth, but that of middle age is friendship. The calm ness, the very unselfishness which constitutes its charm for maturity, render it unattractive to youth. The young enjoy the turmoil of the pas sions as they do the restlessness and activity of the bod}'. They do net heed if the love be selfish or no. On the contrary, if a thought is given the subject they comprehend that it must be selfish; that it presupposes an idol which is not only worshipped for its own sake, buc also to the end that the happiness of the devotee may be secured. Love gives truly, generously, but it asks for a return and that with interest. Friendship is no less generous, but it demands less returns, and bears heavier bur dens. Love is too ethereal to know L ouisville , Ivy.. Long experience has proved them to be the safest, surest, and best of all the Dills with which the market abounds. By their occasional use, the blood is purified, the corruptions of the system ex pelled, obstructions removed, and the whole machinery of life restored to its healthy activ ity. Internal organs which become clogged and sluggish are cleansed by A y e r ’s Dills, and stimulated into action. Thus incipient disease is changed into health, the value of which change, when reckoned on the vast multitudes who enjoy it, can hardly be com puted. Their sugar-coating makes them pleasant to take, and preserves their virtue« unimpaired for any length of time, so that they are ever fresh, and perfectly reliable. Although searching, they are mild, and oper ate without disturbance to the constitution er diet or occupation. Full directions are given on the wrapper te each box, how to use them as a Family Physie, and for the following complaints, which these Dills rapidly cure: — For n y s p c p n ia or I n d ig e s t io n , L ist- lessn e» « , L a n g u o r , and L o ss o t A ii p e tit«-, they should be taken moderately te stimulate the stomach, and restore its healthy tone and action. For D y s e n te r y or I iin r r lio - a , but one mild dose is generally required. For B h tm m a tis n i, Grout, G ra v el, P a l p it a t i o n o f t h e H e a r t , P a i n in t h e Si«le, B a c k , and U oin *, they should be continuously taken, as required, to change the diseased action of the system. With lush change those complaints disappear. For D r o p s y and D r o p s ic a l S w e ll in g s , they should be taken in large and fre quent doses to produce the effect of a drastie purge. For S u p p r e s s io n , a large dose should be taken, as it produces the desired effect by •ympathy. As a Dinner Dill, take one or two Dills te promote digestion, and relieve the stomach. An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and bowels, restores the appetite, and invigor ates the system. Hence it is often advanta geous where no serious derangement exists. One who feels tolerably well, often finds that a dose of these Dills makes him feel decid edly better, from their cleansing and reno vating effect on the digestive apparatus.
