IDT. 2'.) Democrat. Sir : On the first slay of Juns,188l, I lay at my residence in this eity sur rounded by my frisn.is and waiting for death. Heaven only knows tka agony aa . a a a at a 1 tben endure, lor words ean nam describe it. And let. if a few years previous sny one had told tme that- I was to be brought so low, ana ny so aa a aa terrible a disease, I should bare scofled at tbe idea. 1 had always been un commonly strong and healthy, and weighed over 200 pounds, and hardly knew, in my own experience, what pain or sickness were. Very many people who will read this statement realise at times they are unusually tired and can not account for it. They feel null pains ia y eric us parts of tbe body and do not understand why. Or thoy are exceedingly hungry one day and entirely without appetite tbe neat. This was just the way I felt when tie relentless malady which bad fastened itself upon mo first began. Hull I thought nothing of it ; that probably I had taken a cold which would soon pass away. Hhottly after this I noticed a heavy, and at times neuralgic, pain in one side of my bead, but aa it would come one day and be gone the next, 1 paid little attention to it. Tben my stomach would get out of order aod my food often failed to digest, causing si times great incon venienoe. Yet, even as a physician, I did not think that theae tbinga meant anything serious. I fancied I was suf fering fiom malaria and doctored my self accordingly. But I got no better. I next noticed a peculiar color and odor about the fluids I was passing also that there were large quantities one day and very little the next, and that a persistent froth and scum appeared upon tbe sui face, and a sediment set tled. And yet I did not tesliae any danger, for, indeed, seeing these symp toms continually, I finally became ac customed to them, and my suspicion was wholly disarmed by the fact that I had no pain in tbe i flee ted organs or in tV-eir vicinity. Why I ahould bae oeen ae blind I cannot understand ! I consulted the beat medical skill in tbe land. I visited all tbe famed min eral springs in America and traveled from Maine to California. 8:ill I grew worse. No two physicians agreed ss to my malady. Ona said I was troubled with spinal irritation, another, dyspep sia , another, heart disease ; another, geoerat debility ; another, congestion of tbe base of tbe brain s and ao on through a long list of common diseases the symptoms of many of which 1 real- a a V . a a st i nad. id tbta way several years passed, during which time I waa stead tly growing worse. My condition had really become pitiable. The slight eymptoms I at first experienced were developed into terrible sod constant disorders. My weight bad been re duced from 207 to ISO pounds. My life was a burden to myself and friends. I could retain no food on my stemseb, and iivsd wholly by injection!. I waa a living mass of pain. My pulse waa uncontrollable. In my agony I fre quently fell to the floor and clutched the cariet, aod pi eyed for death ! Morphine bad little or no effect in deadening tbe pain. For six days and nights I had tbe death -premonitory kiccoughs constantly I My water waa filled with tube-casts and albumen. I was struggling with Brtgbt's Disease of ths kidneys in its last stages I Wbiie suffering thus I received s call from my pastor, tbe Rev. Dr. Foote, at that time rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, of this city. I felt tbst it was our last interview, but in the course of conversation Dr. Foote detailed to me the many remarkable oures of cases like my own which had come under his observation. As a practicing physioian and a graduate of of tbe schools, I deried the idea of any medicine outside the regular channels bsing in tbe least beneficial. So solici tous, however, was Dr. Foote, that I finally promised I would waive my prejudios. I began its nse on tbe first day of June, 1881, and took it accord ing to directions. At first it sickened me, but this I thought was a good sign for one in my debiliated condition. J continued to take it ; the sickening sensation departed and I waa finally able to retsin food upon my stomach. In a few days I noticed a decided change for the better, as also lid my wife and friends. My hiccoughs ceased and I experienced less pain than fotmerly. I was so rejoiced at ibis improved con dition that, upon what I bed believed but a few days before wss my dyiog bed, 1 vowed, in tbe presence of my family and friends, should I recover I would both publicly and privately make known this remedy for the good of hu manity, wherever and wheneyer I bad an opportunity, and this letter is in fulfillment of that vow. My improve ment was constant from that time, and in less than three months I hsd gained 26 pounds in flesh, became entirely free from nain and I baliava I n m. e - w v j 'life and present condition wholly to Warner's Safe Cure, ths remedy which I used Since my recovery I hsve thoroughly re-investigated tbe subject of kidney diniouUies and Bright's disease, and tbe truths developed are astounding. I therefore state, deliberately, and as a physician, tnat I believe more than one- half the deaths which occur In America are caused by Bright's disease of the kidneys. This my sound like a rash statsment, but 1 am prepared to verify it fully. Bright's disease has no dls ti not iv. (natures of its ofD, indeed, it WIHHVBTW mmmmm " W W often develops without any pain what ever ia ths kidneys or their vicinity), but has the symptoms of neatly every other common complaint. Hundreds of people die dally, whose burials are authorised by a physician's certtficat as occurring from "Heart Disease," "Apoplexy," "Paralysis," "Spina rwulalnt." "Rheumatism." "Pneu monia," snd ths otbsr cemmon com plaints, when in reality it is from Bright's disease of the kidneys. Few physicians, and fewer people, realise the extent of this disease or its danger ous and insidious nature.
