A Mailer la Whleb las PaMleaheaia Mare a Deal or interest To tht lemisrs of tfo Democrat : Why does the governmont spend so much money ana risk so many a .a a s lives in trying to capture the counter feiter ? "Suppose ho does counterfeit gov eminent bonds and notes, surely the government is rich enough to stand any loss his act may confer I" But the individual citlaen could 111 afford to be put to continual finan cial loss if such desperadoes were let go un whipped of Justice. It is only the valuable thing that is counterfeited ; it la only in the light of purity and virtue that Impurity and vice can be known. No one in these days would counterfeit a Con federate bond or note. People who commit fraud alwaya do it by simulating the highest vir ture ; by proying on the cleanest reputation, by employing tbe fair name of virtue with which to give respectability to vice. Let ua explain : Seven or elgh years ago, ao we have been Informed many times In public prints, a Now York state gentleman waspronouced as many millions nave been pro nounced before, incurably aick of an extreme disorder. By suggestions which he believed were provldentisl he waa led to the use of a preparation which had been for aeverst yaers employed by a select few physicians in New York city and ore or two other oromiuent places. The result was that be waa cured, be whom doctor without number ana or con ceded ability said wsa incurable. Having secured possession of tbe for routs, absolutely and irrevocably, he determined to devote a portion of bis accumulated wealth to the manufact ure and sale of this remedy for the benefit of the msny who suffer ss he suffered, in apparent, hopelessness. In lees than three years, so tremen. dou became the demand for this remedy and so exslted tho reputa tion, that be waa obliged for bis pur poses to erect a laboratory and ware house containing four and a quarter seres of flooring snd filled with the most approved chemical and manu facturing devices. Probably there never waa a remedy that haa won such a meritorious name, such extra ordinary sales and baa accomplished so much good for the race. Unprincipled parties who flourish only upon the ruins of others, saw In tiiis reputation and sate an oppor tunity to reap a golden harvest, (not legitimately, not honorably) for which purpose tbey bave made imitations and substitutions of it in every sec tion of tbe country, and many drug gists, who can make a larger profit on these Imitation goods, often com promise their honor by forcing a sate upon the uo posted customer. Yea, undoubtedly the manufactur ers could well afford to ignore such instances of fraud ao far aa tbe effect upon themselvea is concerned, for their remedies have a constant and unremitting sale, but tbey feel it to be their duty to warn the public against sucb imitations and substltu Hons, non-secret and otherwise. The individual who buys them and the public who countenances their sale alone suffer In mind, body and estate therefor. The authors of some of these frsud ulent practices have been prosecuted and sent to prison for tbelr crimes, but there is another class who claim to know the formula of this remedy and one Sunday school Journal, we are told, has prostituted Its high and holy calling so fsr as to advertise that for twenty-five cents it will send nil new subscribers a transcript of the Warner formula 1 This formula, by the way, must be a wonderfully kaleidoscopic affaiar, for there la hardly a month passes when some paper la not Issued which pretends to glre the only correct formula 1 The manufacturers inform us thst they would be perfectly willing that the public should know what tbe true formula of Warner's Safe Cure Is, (uone that have been published ere anything like it,) but even if every man, woman and child In the United States were as familiar with this formula aa with tbelr A. B. C'a they could not compound the remedy. Tbe method of manufacture is a se cret. It is Impossible to obtain the results thst are wrought by this reme dy if one does not have the perfect skill scqulrsd only by years of prac tice for compounding snd assimilat ing the bimpie elements which enter into its composition. . The learned Dr. Foster, tno honor ed head of Clifton Springs sanitar ium, once said that having roughly analyzed this remedy he recognized that the elements that compose it were simple but be attributed the secret of its power to the method of its compounding, and this method no one knows except the manufacturers and no one can acquire it. Our advice to our readers, there fore, cannot be too strongly empha sized. As you would psrfer virtue to vice, gold to dross, physical hap- plness to physical misery, shun the ' Imitator aud rafute thereby to lend your ild financially to (hose who seek to got, by trading upon anoth er's reputation and honesty, a tale for wares ana goods which on their meribj are fit only to he rejected as the veriest refuse. You can neither afford to lake their injurious com- pounds into your system. When you call for Warner's ttafe Cure ate that the wrapper is black with white let tore and thst the wrapper and label bear an imprint of an iron safe, the trade mark, and that a safe Is blown in the back of the bottlo and that a perfect lc. piomissory note stamp is over the cork. You can't bo !m pos ed on It you observe these cautions. We have the highest respect for the remedy we have mentioned and the highest regard for the manufac turers and we cannot too highly commend their dignified and cor slderate tone in relation to those who would traduce their fair name and ruin the beat interest of the pub lic in sUcb matters. xvenns is jvdaism. Ths National Rabbinical Convention of ths Reformed Hebrew Cbuioh, which met st Pittsburgh recently, adopted s platform after a lengths discussion, of which these are ths main points t We hold that Judaism presents tbe highest conception of tbe God idea ss taught in our holy Scriptures sod ds vsloped and spiritual isad by Jewish tescbers. We msintsin that Judaism preserved and defended amid continue struggles and trials this (lod idea as tbs central religious truth for tbe bo- man rsce. We reooffoized in tbe BiMe tbe m - record of tbe consecration ot tbe Jewish neonle to iu mission as tbe priest o tbe one God, snd value it as tbe most potent instrument of religious and moral instruction. We bold tbst the modern discoveries of scientific research es in tbe domains of nature and history are not antagonistic to the doctrines of Judaism, tbe Bible reflecting tbe primitive ideas of its own sge, and st times elotbing its conception of divine providenoe sod justice dealing with men in miraculous narratives. We reoogaite in the Mosaic legisla tion a srstem of training tbe Jewish people for its mission during its natural life in Palestine, and to-day we accept as binding only tbe moral laws, and maintain onlyiucb ceremonies as ele vate and sanctify our lives, but reject all suck aa are not adapted to tbe views and habits of modern civilisation. We bold that all sush Mosaic and Rabbinical laws aa regulate die!, priestly purity, and dress otiginated in ages sad under the influence of ideas alto gether foreign to our present mental snd spiritual state. Tbey fell to impress the modern Jew with a spirit of priest ly holiness; their obaei vanoo in our days Is spt rather to obstruct than to further modern spiritual elevation. We consider ourselves no longer a nation, but a religious commanity, and therefore expect neither a return to Palestine nor a sacrificial worship under the sons of Aartn, norths restoration of any of tbe laws concerning tbe Jew- isb stete. Cbristisoity snd Isism being daught er religious of Judaism, we appreciate their providential mission to snd in tbe spreading ef monotheistic and moral truth. We acknowledge that the spirit of broad humanity of out age is our ally snd tbe fulfillment of our mission, and therefore we extended tbe hand of fellowship to sll who operate with us in tbe establishment of tbe reign of truth snd righteousness among msn. Ws reassert the doctrine of Judaism that the soul of man is immortal. We reject, as ideas not rooted in Judaism, the beliefs both in bodily lessureotion snd in tehenna and Eden (bell and Paradise) aa abodes for everlasting pun ishment or reward. After tbe adoption of tbe platform tbe question of tbe sd mission of prose lytes without ths rites of circumcision was taken up, and s committee of five, consulting of Rabbis Wise,Hirscb, iishn, Sale and Sonnsscbein were appointed, with instructions to report at next year's meeting. A resolution dsclsrlog in fsvor of Sunday services, instead ef Saturday, provoked a heated discussion. It was finally adopted. ALBANY SAW AND PLAN INC MILLS.
