In Canada there is a practice of Having exhibitions of fat cattle a short time before Christmas. Intend ed or slaughtering jast before the hol idays, it is designated as Christmas beef. Sheep, principally wethers, are also specially fatted for the holidays and offered is Christmas mutton, in reference to the special fattening of sheep, the same practice also prevails at Easter. We should like to see this practice adopted in the States, but should prefer to have Christmas beef and Easter mutton all the year round. $1500 pe" ytsir can )& easily mode at home working for E. G.
