Dorothy It-nsmore and Berth Goldstein, of the Washington team, did some good play ing as forwards, while Miss Ward, of the opposing team, played well as guard. Wis., the Spalding National champion team. Spurred by their two defeats at the hands of Dallas College, the Wis consin quintet played rings around the local collegians and won by a score of 44 to 14. At no time was the result of the game In doubt. Portage took the lead from the very start and kept Increasing It. In the last half the play by Portage was particularly effective, at one time the visitors rolling up 1 points In about eight minutes. The game waa frea from roughness. Cohn last night announced tho following: Pur chase of Pitcher Schwenk. of the Louis ville club of the American Association, for 400. Purchase of Catcher Hasty, VANG of tha Vernon club In the Pacific Coast League. Acceptance of terms with Pitcher Schopp. with the Birmingham club of the Southern League, for two years. Mr. Cohn has not given up hope of landing Pitcher Fttswater. the south paw with such a brilliant record In the Ohio and Pennsylvania League last year, but the way the thing stands now. East Liverpool has a claim on the man. Mr. Cohn Is letting Fltzwater negotiate for his own release. Pitcher Vic Holm has enlisted in tha "hold-out" class, the first of the lot to whom the Indian chieftain has been tendering contracts. DYNAMITE SJJSPECT FOUND Man Believed to Be Bryce Arrested In .Arizona. GLOBE. Aria.. Jan. 28. A man sus pected of being James B. Bryce, one of the San Francisco trio wanted for the purchase of dynamite supposedly in connection with the blowing up of the Los Angeles Times, was arrested here last night by local officers and is held In Jail. The oincers assert he fits per fectly the description of Bryce sent broadcast by the Los Angeles police. The man gives his name as Gregg Capps and says he has never been In California. CARD OF THANK. When that vessel reached Alexandretta, she was flying the American flag and tho American consular agent. John T. Peristlany, went on board to Investigate. There he was set upon by the sailors and driven from the ship. During the at tack his bat band was cut and coat torn off. AGENT'S SLAYERS PURSUED Ssnia Fe Offers Reward for Men Killing Special Employe. ALBUQUERQUE. K. M.. Jan. S.-The Santa Fa Railroad has offered tuOO re ward for the arrest of the murderers of L, K. McClure, the special agent who waa shot near Abo Pass, Thursday. It Is stated here that McClure was killed by three half-breed Indians, mem bers of a band which hau bean robbing freight cars on the Santa Fe. Officers of the New Mexican mounted police are trailing the murderers, who are believed to be making their way toward Old Mexico.
