Children have been the lords of the household, and will continue to hold way urtil after the New Year. Much credit is due the grirls and matrons who devoted so much energy and time to the Boiling of Red-Cross 'stamps, and to the public at large who bought with mich generosity. Enough purchases were made by various individuals to paper the entire house, while some un known person with more enthusiasm than sense of propriety, entirely covered his handsome bulldog with' the bright little stickers. Miss Margaret Montgomery is spend ing Christmas In London, where she recently arrived, having sailed Tues day, December 14, on the Princessin Crown Cecilia, in company with her cousin. Lady Alan Johnstone, Mrs. Trexel. of Philadelphia, and Miss Mar- r'eretta Irexel. Miss Montgomery will ster visit with Mrs. Prexel, who has house in London. Lady Johnstone was formerly Miss Plnchot, a sister of r!fford Pinchot, of Washington. D. C. j'.Kny in rPurunry uuu y uumi&iuiie will leave for Copenhagen, to Join her hus band, who is the British Minister to Denmark , and Miss Montgomery will accompanv her. . - Mr. and Mrs. T. "W. Wakefield le'ave son for a tour abroad. On January 4 Mrs. Wakefield will go to Oakland, where she will spend several days with ier daughter, Mrs. Oeorge L. Walker, and there she will be joined by Mr. Wakefield. On January 17 they leave Oakland for New York, sailing on the Certrlc, February 2. They vill take the Mediterranean trip, visiting Palestine, Constantinople. Athens. Madeira, and will then sail for Europe. In A'ugust tliey go to Oberammergau. for the "Passion Vlay." and later will spend come time in Italy. Mr. and 'Mrs. Frank Warren. Sr., JMiss Prances Warren and Miss Grace Warren will leave this coming week for Egypt and a tour of TCurope. They will go at once to New York, and will Bail on the Coronia, taking the Mediter ranean route. No definite time for re turning has been announced, and they ilhave no set itinerary. Hamilton Corbett is homo from Ilar vard for the Christmas holidays. Mr. 'Corbett is vlee-presidont-'of his class, one of the three greatest half-backs in the country, and an officer of the stu dent council. Mr. Ferdinand Thieriot, of San Fran- otsoo, the nance of Miss Hazel Dolph, arrived on Wednesday to spend the holidays here, and Is a guest at the Portland Hotel. During his visit a number of affairs are being planned Miss Dolph is one of the most charming and popular girls In Port land. On Friday of this week Miss Claire Houghton will be a dlnaer hostess at the Hotel Portland grill, entertaining Jor Miss Dolph and Mr. Thieriot. Her guests will be Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Xolph. Shevlin, will be the host at a dancing party which is attracting much pleas urable anticipation among the very young set, and on Friday Ailsa Mac Master, the youngest daughter of ' Mr. and Mrs. William MacMaster, will give a luncheon at the country, residence of the MacMasters near the golf links.
