Bloodshed and Tumult Resulting.
30,000 Men Out of Work. .
VAT-PA RATSO, Dep. 21. The strike of
th nitrate -workers has already borne
fruit In bloodshed and death and la dally
growing worse. At- Lagunas yesterday
there was an encounter between troops
and strikers, in the course of which seven
men -were klllled and 16 wounded.
At Iqulque one man was killed and
seven were wounded in an encounter
with the authorities. A censorship has
been established at Iqulque. The strikers
now number not less than 30,000 men and
no work is belner done anywhere In the
Antofopasta, Mejlllones and Caletaburs
districts.

Charles Abrahm died Friday night at
the home of his son, .J. E. Abrahm, in
Smith Hollow, after a short illness. Mr.
Abrahm came to Oregon in 1SS4, where
he remained a short time before moving
to WBshinrrton.
