Jt. T. MacNeil, known as "The" Mac . Xell. chief of the Clan MacNeil. num bering 2800 on the i.-le of Barra. Hebrides, and with 20,000 members in the United States, arrived yesterday . on the steamship Columbia from Ire land and Scotland. "The" MacNeil in 30 years old and wears his honors, as head of his clan, modestly. His mother was an Ameri can, formerly Miss Klizabeth Binns or Detroit. His father was a well known Scotch artist. The family dates back on the island of Barra to 800 A. D. "The" MacNeil wa with the Cana dian engineers and has a good war record. His father died in 1914 while "The" was in the trenches and could not get home. He returned July last and was greeted by the entire popu lation of the island, which formally I named him chief. There was a dance lasting two days and a festival. , , "Well. I don't know." he said, when ' asked if he would marry an American girl. "I am not over here looking for a wife. I am just visiting and will go from here to Florida for a while, .but you never can tell what will happen." Another passenger was Hunter Sharp, son of Herbert Sharp. United States consul at Belfast.
