16 T1TE MORXING OREGOXTAX, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10. 1910. CEillS SOLICITORS' HUMES ANNOUNCED Interpreters for Foreign Quarters Now Problem. WORK DUE IN JANUARY List ot Enumerators for Portland Is Approved in Message From Washington. Names of those who will take the census for the city of Portland the first two weeks of January were an nounced yesterday by William I. Ben nett, supervisor for this district. A message from Washington approved the list prepared here. One of the newest problems the supervisor is facing Is the providing of interpreters, who will cover terri tory with the enumerators in the foreign settlements. German, Greek, Italian. Japanese, Chinese and Jewish are to be supplied. Special solicitors have also been provided for the county poor farm and the city smallpox hos pital. Classes of Instruction for the enum erators will be organized immediate ly and special meetings have already been called for Tuesday, Wednes day and Thursday nights and again for the same ones next week. The 210 solicitors have been divided into groups of 70 so as to make this in struction more easily given. Each man or woman who undertakes the work will have from 1500 to 2000 names to obtain. The following are those who will handle the work: Name Precinct. Dist. Abbott. JesslcF.. Mrs. .......... i:S 184 Acker, Walter H 60 Acklev. Ward M. (Captain) .....78 AltliUh.
