HYBERG AND WILLIS STAR Gonzales Loses Decision to Carpen ter In Three Rounds Anderson-King- Contest Full or Thrills. Hall Is Crowded. Two rattling good bouts were fea tures of the Woodlawn Athletic Club smoker last night. Gonzales and Car penter went three fast rounds. Carpen ter winning the decision. Both box ers exhibited clever footwork. The Mexican used a clever defense, but Carpenter's rushing tactics won. Hyberg and Willis put up the star bout of the evening. Willis received the decision after four rounds of fast and furious mixing. Willis put up a clever defense that confused Hyberg. Hyberg used . excellent footwork and at times had Willis plainly guessing. If this was Willis first ring battle, as was said, he should be heard from later.' . . Tho Anderson-King bout was full of thrills, although little cleverness was shown by either man. Anderson was practically out at the finish of the lirst round, but came back strong in the second session and nearly put his man away in the third. The hall was packed to the doors and broke down the corner posts of the ring. There was considerable confusion during the bouts. About 200 were turned away at the door. Nel son acted as referee. The programme follows: Frlsble, Woodlawn. 10S pounds; Jacobs. South Portland. Jacobs knocked out In first round. Carpenter, Woodlawn, 113 pounds; Gon sales. South Portland.
