HUNTING IN RESERVE URGED State Commission Recommendation Favors Klamath Folk. Tb Stat Gama and Fish ComTtili lon. at a meeting- Thursday, adopted a resolution recommending that the Northern portion of the Klamath Falls Gama Reserve be opened to hunter In season. The reserve, which waa estab lished during; President Roosevelt's last administration. Include an area f about IS and S miles, running; from near tha city of Klamath Falls, eight mile south uf tha CaUXornia, Una and Includes some of the best goose and duck-shooting around In tha world. Tha reserve as originally constituted, took in only Government lands, which allowed shooting on land privately owned within its limits. The game law passed by the last session of the Oregon Legislature was construed by U Alvah Lewls, of the United States Biological Survey in Portland, to mean that no shooting should be dona on any land within the reserve. Klamath Falls sportsmen, acting through the Klamath Falls Chamber of Commerce, took up the matter and sent L. R. Robertson, to appear before the State Game and Fish Commission in their behalf. HI arguments before tha Commission resulted In tha pas- sage of the resolution recommending the opening of the northern portion of the reserve. AUDITORIUM BONDS UNSOLD Bids for $30-0,000 of $800,000 issue Rejected by Board. Construction of the new munlplpal auditorium on th Market block was made more indefinite yesterday, when the auditorium commission decided to reject the bids offered for $200,000 of tha 1600.000 bond issue which was vot ed tot the building. . The commission took this action because of the pres ent depressed condition of the bond market, and because the bond issue, if sold at the figures offered, would not be sufficient to complete the structure. The two bids considered yesterday, Morris Bros., at 87.78 on tha dollar, and Henry Teal, 87.32 on the dollar, came on rejection of the first bids sub mitted and advertisement for new bids. The highest bid offered on the first advertisement wa slightly un der 90 cents. No re-advertisement will be made until the bond market im proves. The commission adopted a resolu tion asking the Council to appropriate $2500 to clean up- Indebtedness already Incurred for piano, soundings of th soil of the auditorium site and other expenses. WEIGHT REDUCED BY FAST Detective Howell Hungry, tut Tak ing Flesh Off Rapidly. Heroic methods or "banting" are be ing tried by Sergeant Glenn Howell, one of the real, first-class heavy weights of the city detective force, with excellent results so far.
