Mrs. Ayers is now In California and Judge Morrow stated that he will not authorize ex tradition proceedings In order that she msv be made to serve her sentence. Wilton T. Hume. Mrs. Ayers- attor ney, withdrew yesterday morning her plea of not guilty and substituted one of guilty. A fine of which Judge Morrow Imposed In addition to the Jail sentence was paid at once. It Is un derstood that the Jail sentence may not b enforced even in the event of her return to this city If she behaves herself. EDUCATOR ALSO ATHLETE Professor Henderson Ending- Period of Activity Here Professor G. W. Henderson, prin cipal of the Ockley Green School, who will leave Portland after this season to assume the position of superintendent of schools In The Dalles, has been actively cpnnected with the school system of Portland for many years. Professor Henderson took under graduate work in Harvard, before coming- to Oregon. For the past Ave years he has been principal of the Ockley Green School, and for three years prior to that he was professor of mathematics and Latin in Lincoln High School and coach of athletics. His success as a trainer was shown by the fact that In 1908. the year that he went to the Ockley Green School, seven of the men on the foot ball team of the University of Oregon, were graduates of Lincoln High School, who had received their coaching under him. Professor Henderson for five years also was In charge of the night schools of the city and in that time saw them grow from an enrollment of 200 to more than 1000 and from a teaching force of 4 to 22. It was through hla activity that a high school course was es tablished. . In his new position in The Dalles, Professor Henderson will be In charge of six schools in the city. EXCURSION RATES. II- Plnmmer, of Northern Pacific, Gives Testimony. Hearings in the case which arose from the Columbia Orchards Land fraud case, In which W. E. De Larm and others are being prosecuted in a suit to recover land said to have been traded by F. L. and W. E. Tobey for Colum bia Orchards 20-year bonds, were con tinued yesterday before Judge Bean, the principal witness being G. H. Plnmmer, of the Northern Pacific Mr. Plummer denied that De Larm and others had had options on 10,000 acres of land In the Wahluke dis trict, as W. E. Tobey testified, on the previous day, that they had told him. Mr. Plummer said that they had made repeated efforts to get control of some of the railroad land, but had been told that none was to be sold until 1911. Late in the Summer of that year the Columbia River Water Company, or ganised under De Larm. secured the right from the railroad company to exploit its holdings, but this company i i mn- him hppn organized w txa uciu w until long after the Tobey transaction. Funeral services for Frank Llther land, the city detective who was fa tally stricken while at his work last week, will be held this afternoon from the Skewes undertaking rooms, at Third and Clay street.
