S7.9 49 I HITTER IS 2 CENT HIGHER TODAY Hoi Weather Responsible for Decreased Creamery Supply. There will be a 2-cent advance In the lo cal butter market this morning. The hot weather has had the effect of shortening the cream supply by drying the pastures. and the Increased demand f--r cream by the cream trade haa also reduced the svall able material reeded by the buttermakera. It la certain now that the lowest butter prtcea of the season have been seen and that from this time on the price tendency will be gradually upward. Cheese holds firm, with an active local and ahiDDing demand. Eggs move sluggishly, because of the hot weather, and former prices cannot be re allied The poultry market ia also slow. Re- , reipta are much lighter than last week, but the light buying causes prices to sag. LEMONS ARE ADVANCED SO CENTS Demand (or Fruits la Heavy , Especially Watermelons (lie a per Cantaloupes Soon. There waa a 50-cent advance in lemons yesterday following the higher prices wired from California. Fancy lemons in tha local market are now held at StS.30. The fruit trade continues ey heavy. The demand for watermelons taxes the supply. Cantaloupes are also large sellers and are very arm. Beginning next week Turlock cantaloup all! be available and prlcea will be more reasonable. Deciduous frulta were general! unchanged In price. Among the arrlvala were three cars melons, one car of cantaloupes and one car cf mixed fruits. CHICAGO. July 17. Trainloads of new .... . fl.nm th. Southwest hurrying to market sent quotations down today. Reports were received that one railway alone had started 200 cars of new wheat direct from Oklahoma points to Chicago. Kansas City dispatches told of 140 cars which had been herded this way last nignt. Kansas yields were declared to -be making tne traoe lean w iimn. . -- sued and there were predlctiona that the recelpta next week would amount to a fioou. v Frost damage reported In Nonnwesiem wheat fields could not be confirmed here, but for a while such rumors, with export sales at Winnipeg and Baltimore, had a bullish Influence, especially as there waa an advance at Liverpool and advices of un favorable crop conditions In Russia, Most . . n...nv..i a tha hnl7 however. came from shorts who were taking profits. Country onenngs oi new w.. larger from Illinois. Another source of weakness was a report of rain and cooleT weather in Oklahoma and Southern Kan aaa. . Oats reached the lowest close on record this season. Unexpectedly big harvest re turns had much to do with the decline, but tho course of other cereals was not without a share in producing weakness. Buying on the part of packers, big and little, did not altogether prevent provisions from sagging with grain. Leading futures ranged as follows: WHEAT. July Sept. Dec. May July Sept. July Sept.
