EXCITEMENT AT CHICAGO Advices Are Later Contradicted and Close Is Irregular, With New Crop Months Jlaklng the Best Showing. CHICAGO. April 22. Alarming crop re port from Nebraska brought about buying today In wheat. The nw waa contradicted, however, and the market closed Irregularly, varvlng from c lower to 6 c advance. What attired up the wheat bulls was a statement from an expert that In Nebraska the crop loss was sensational In some coun ties and the prospect poor In nearly all. He added that there waa enough damage al ready apparent In Kansas and Nebraska to put both in the doubtful clasa thla year. It waa declared the abandoned plantilnga prob ably would reach 1,500,000 acres and that the condition may go below the average. These assertion later were denounced on good authority as false In part and mis leading as a whole. Reports, too. of good rains having a widespread effect tended to wipe out most of the advance due to the stampede. Nearly all tho atrength and ex citement wag in the new crop deliveries. Leader In the corn crowd were positive in their vlewa that the edge waa off the big bull market of the last few weeks. Shipping call was limited and country offerings en larged. Wet weather developed strength for oats. It was a favorite theory that the rain meana poatponement of seeding and Increased -the proportion of flelda that would go Into corn. Speculative demand absorbed th offer ings of provisions and more than offset a decline due to large run of hogs here and West. Lard led the advance. The leading future ranged as follows: WHEAT.
