Officials Asocrt Children , Cared for Improperly.' An investigation of a baby home con ducted by Mrs. A. Miller at Twentieth and Raleigh streets, made by State Health Officer White. City Health Of ficer. Wheeler and County Physician Geary, revealed a shocking condition of affafrs and an attempt probably will be made to have the children re moved, : ... The doctors found four babies and three small children between 2 and 4 years. The room where they were kept, according to the physicians, was filthy, their clothing; was dirty and had not been changed for many hours, and the food was inferior and kept under the most unsanitary conditions. Although Mrs. Miller asserted that most .of the babies were relatives of hers, it is known that she has. applied to various Institutions in the city to end babies to ber place. OPEN MAY 5 Council Crest Resort to Have Many Xew Features. Preparatory to the opening of the new Council Crest scenic amusement park, work is going on rapidly. The formal opening wlli be Sunday, May 5, though most of the attractions will be going full blast before that time. The manage ment has installed a' 15000 pipe organ in the skatinc rink and it is so located lliat the muiic can ba enjued by tv- eryono in the park, as well as by those who are skating to the tunes. On top of the observatory there has been placed a huge searchlight which will sweep the country for miles around this Summer. All sorts of fun Is forecasted for observation parties who go up on the tower during the Summer nights. Observation parties have come into vogue In the Eastern parks and white cities during the last two years, but this is the first oppor tunity for anything of the kind In the Northwest. The parties are attended by an operator, who works the search light in all desired directions, and no end. of lun. and amusement reeuiU. Additions and improvements are be ing made to the sennic railway for this season and special accommodations provided for those who will visit the new park particularly for the view.
