TUALATIN WANTS TUNNEL Valley Forms Clnb to Work for Bore Through, Council Crest. v "Farm owners In th Tualatin Val ley are willing-. If necessary, to bond their property to obtain construction of a tunnel through Council Crest to shorten their road to the Portland markets," saJd C. E. Wlckland. of Laurel, secretary of a newly-org-anized Commercial Club of Tualatin Valley, which waa formed to advocate build ing1 of the proposed tunnel. The new commercial organization is officially named the "Commercial Club of Portland's Garden," and counts In Its membership about 14 small commu nities in the section beyond Council Crest and between Tualatin and Hills boro. Until a tunnel can be finished the club wants to obtain the assist ance of Portland business men to es tablish an auto truck service over the hills to facilitate transit to and from market. Mr. Wlckland came to Port land yesterday to enter his associa tion as a memser of the Oretron De velopment Leag-ue and to announce the purposes for which it had been organ ized. At present it is a 12-hour trip to market at best, he says, and they be lieve that it can be out to one hour when the tunnel is built, throwing open in Portland's dooryard one of the richest sections from which come her market grarden supplies. Other officers of the association are Fred Groner, of Beaverton, Frank Rowell of Hillsboro, and E. M. Brooks, of Hillsboro. Xewport Soldier Pleased. NEWPORT, Or, Feb. 7. (Special.) George F.
