There was another sale of Christmas cat tle at the stockyards yesterday. A fine lot of high-grade stock was put on the market and brought an excellent premium over current values, because of the superior quality. The feature sales were two fancy steers, raised by F. C. Oxman. of Durkee. They weighed 1040 and 1320 pounds and brought $10. Another steer weighing 1440 pounds sold at 19 and one of 1310 pounds weight at 19. Mr. Oxman also had a load of 19 head of 2 and 1-year-old steers that aver aged 1371 pounds and thee were taken at 17.60. All his catllo were a cross between Shorthorns and Herefords. Th big prlx Hereford steer bought last week by Wllltsm Constantin was killed yesterday. It weighed 2170 pounds alivs and dreased 68 1-3 per cent- Thla Is be lieved to be the record for Oregon cattle. The 1440 pounds of fine, white dressed meat made a striking appearance. The steer was grain-fed. Th hid turned off at 121 pounds green weight. Receipts yesterday were: ISO cattle. Steel Declines Under Pressnre but Recovers Its Ixss Copper Shares Strong;. NEW YORK. Dec. 13. Irregularity was the dominant feature of trading In todays stock market. Bullish manipulation and realising for profits seemed to have ex hausted the force of the market and profea slonal operators were di.posed to allow stocks to drift. Trading fell off heavily and the list bore evidence of apathy. The market's tendency to heaviness was accentuated by a few traders who sold the list on Its soft spots. This was true of the Gould issues. Keadrug and the copper shares were prominent for their strength, the movement In Reading Imparting Increased flrmnee-s to Lehigh Valley. United States Steel was less conspicuous than on recent days and the trading fell off sharply in volume. It was under consider able pressure at times and fell two points under the top price of the day before. Later It roee briskly. Allls-Chalmers preferred fell 14 to t and the 5 per cent bonds 1H to 49ie. both new local records. A heavy gain In cash by the banks was Indicated by movements of currency, esti mates of the amount running aa high as lll.ooo.000. Bang exchanges for the week again made a substantial comparison with last year's figures, showing a gain of 6 per cent,, al though compared with 1009 ther is a de crease of 13 per cent. Foreign trado figures for November showed a slight recession, both exports and imports falling somewhat below those of last year. JThe shrinkage in value of all exports was only ftooo. so that there was an actual gain of 815.000.000 in the value of exports other than cotton.
