With the new county brldco across Rocue Klver at this place still In the embryo stapes of construction, a small storm of criticism of the plans of the structure has arisen, and citizens and business men have sent objections to the County Court. Presumably in re sponse to these protests, Judae Nell rame over from Jacksonville yesterday with County Kncjncer Harmon and viewed the work. Th critics of the new bride claim that a prave rtiKineerinc blunder is belnc committed. The Hosrue. a"t tho place selected for the bridpe, flows throuch a narrow frorse. or canyon, whose perpendicular walls, but little more than laO feet apart, provide per fect natural foundations for piers. Tho Southern Pacific touk advantage of this favorable condition In the construction of Its tine steel brldfre, about 100 feet down the river from t,he site of the new county hridce. The piers of the old Centennial hrldtte. which Is to be re placed by the hridco now under con struction, likewise rest on the solid rock of the canyon walls. Instead of taking full advantage of the splendid site nature has provided, whoever decreed the plans for the new t.ridire has put but one pier hiith and dry on the rock wall. The other pier rests on a rocky spur ito feet lower, and hut a few feet above low water. At hich water It will "lie exposed to tho full force of the current, which rushes betw-een the constraining canyon walls w-lth terrific force. Old-timers who know the ways of the Ilocne claim that this pier will always be in dan cer of bolni? swept away at hljrh water.
