Several falr- slsed shipments were received yesterday, and one sale was ma1 at tha new ton-notch flg-ura of $8.23, which price also was paid for select pork stock on Wednesday. Nebraska continues to provide the local market with virtually all Its hogs and grow ers In that state are beginning to give Portland preference over Omaha in making their shipments. While the market was somewhat quiet yesterday morning It became quite active tn tha afternoon and for a while the sales were steady with strengthening prices. A lot of good steers sold yesterday after noon at 9V0A which Is a better price than hss been paid here recently for the same grade of stock. The run In beef stock was heavy yesterday, a train load of mixed ani mals being received from Rastern Oregon In the morning. Idaho shippers came tn with lot of fine stock In the afternoon. Mutton prlcea are not encouraging to rrowers nd conseauently the receipts yes- teraay were j.gntr. Mates in tnis line were few and the terms prevailing stamped the market as easy.
