The mountain Is said to embrace more glaciers than any other mountain In the United States. The peak was chosen because of the com parative ease with which It Is reached and for th sport furnished by the trout streams In the vicinity. Th permanent oamp of the Mammas will be pitched about 10 miles from th base of th mountain. The equipment and supplies will b sent forward about a week be fore th party leaves Portland, so that everything will be ready for th mountain-climber when tbey arrive there. A special cr will be provided for the party, leaving Portland at 10 o'clock on th morning of Wdnoaday. August 1 Wenatche will b reached Thursday morning. From there th party will go by steamer up th Columbia to Chelan Falls. From Chelan Falls stsges will carry th party to Stehokln, at the north nd of Lke Chelan. This point will b reached Thursday night, where th party will don camp clothes and prepare for the walk to the permanent camp. Th next day will be devoted to the Stehekln Rrrr canyon. This part of the trip Is to be mad In leisurely fashion to en abls the excursionists to take advantage of lh Ashing. The walk on the follow ing day will be over the new Govern ment trail up Agnes Creek canyon. Sheriff Hayes returned today from Eugene with William Colvln. who, with Guy Hagruewood and Austla Swerlnger are charged with attempt ing to wreck the O.-W. R. & N. train, on tho Heppner branch, .on- th night of July T, by placing several posts and two steel rails across the track below lone. Two of the youths were ar rested and Jailed, but Colvln made his escape and was picked up at Eug-ene. The boys have confessed, but say they: were so drunk they did not realize, what they were doing.
