Robert J. Webb, with about 430 pounds of overcapitalisation and a well-trained tenor voice of re markahle range, leads the gay revel of son if and chatter. A big bit of real heart-Interest and pretty sentiment is Introduced by George Rlddcll In the role of a man who wants to return to his wife and baby girl, and whose re conciliation with them Is brought about by the long-distance phone. Two comedians. George Wright and Daniel Baker, as brakemen who cannot forget their calling, are Initiated Into many of the mvsterles of the bath, to the great edification of th audience. An act dainty Is that of Belle Adair, who Is Just as sweet and pretty as her rsme. In a simple little way she sings four new conga, and sings them so pleasingly that the audlen is left begging for more. Frank Farrel-Taylor a "That Min strel Man." I assisted ably by Tom Carter and Blanche Davenport In atyj at that is a comomation oi inugns sua melody. Mis Davenport, who wears most beauteous raiment, sings In true feminine minstrel way, and the two ebnnixed comedians spring a lot of Jokes some very new and many very old. James H. Narow Brothers, one of whom Is very Narow. have a comedy acrobat and bi cycle act that dlffera In only one respect from th oilier offerings of thl sort. This "different part' I the run and leap over the orchestra, ending with a. somer sault on the st ige. made from the aisle, by one of the team. If you can. negroes singing German opera, and you will have only a smsll conception of th fun In store at Pantagea this week with the beadllnera who have dubhed themselves th original black Tyrolese. No mere black-faced comedians are these, but hjippy. rollrklng negroes from the 'untir Southland. A funnier lot of foolishness than these fellows furnish Isn't often In be witnessed. Also worthy of feature notice are the Oberlta sisters, who have an act filled with spectacular and novelty dancing. Poised on balls, they roll adroltyl about the stage and awing with unusual grace masses of filmy draperies on which ara cast wondrous tones of color by the spotlight. In no way I the bill thla week In ferior to the best. An example of this Is the original string of conversation of Evans Lloyd and Uracey Whitehouse. Tbey have SO minutes of comedy which Is aa swift and exciting aa a football game at least that la what people ear of them. Neary and Milter are two boya with clever ability as dancers, and. aa for their voices. It Is not too much to say that they wllrbe heard from later In a bigger performance than their present little dance across the stage. The Newmans are not th bore that Is naturally to be expected when they are billed a cyclists, for their feats are a whirlwind of surprise, distinctly new and interesting. Coney Brook and Rose Qkrllsle make a paslng contrast In their roles of English nobleman and American heiress. Grand. SAID to ba the largest musical or ganization in vaudeville la the band of Gennaro, appearing as topllne feature at the Grand this week. Twen ty soloists make up this troupe, which Gennaro leads with a marvelous show of skill and temperament. With this company is a soprano singer whose voice Is as clear and true aa a bell. The stage setting, too, of this number Is worthy of praise. A night scene in Venice. St. Mark's In the background, and the players ar riving In gondolier costume, several coming by water, la the situation pre ceding the outburst of melody. As a final Gennaro leads his musicians through a series of national airs, il lustrating each with a reproduction of the flag of th country thrown on a canvas. Another excellent feature of the bill Is "Phenomena," a man with the won derful ability of placing his voice in live different human registers bass, baritone, tenor, contralto and soprano. From the sublime to the ridiculous comes the 20-mlnute sketch entitled "A Gay Old Bird." presented by Frank Graham and Edith Randall, two clever folk who are right there when It comes to provoking a round of merriment. Particularly good is their performance of the melodrama, "When the Convict Husband Returns." Another first-class act is the "Village Smithy." by Frank and Nellie Ellison and their xylophones. Other attractions on the programme include amaxlng mld-alr gymnastics by La Vler and a cross-fire of wit and up-to-date follies by Edward Barto and Florence Clark In a funny little go telling of the tribulations of a chorus girl on the second floor back of a poor hotel and a most Impertinent bellboy.
