Just completed, was opened yesterday when at 3:35 P. M. the Diamond O, coming; up the river, passed under the bridge. The ship is owned by Drake G. O'Reilley. The Diamond O waa folluwed by the Anna Cummlngs. Immediately after the draw waa put tn working order the F. B. Jones com menced taking log rafta through which have been delayed on the river for om tlm. The boat made three trips with the rafts under the new lift. Lust night the lift remained hanging about 30 feet above the level of the bridge, high enough to accommodate ordinary river traffic However, the steam schooner Alliance waa unable to get through last night and was com pelled to return to the dock. The result of investigation is that the catch-all vault has outlived its usefulness, that the safe is too balky and that the steel cabinet will gain in popu lar favor, as it seems the only logical solution of the vault problem.
