Railroads Will Place Liberal Or ders for X coded Equipment Next Month Orders for Shoes Increase. NEW TORK. Oct. !l R. G. Dun Co.'s weekly review of trade tomorrow will say The actual volume of trade Is well main tained and the hopeful bustness senlinien wh i.'h has been In evidence the last two weeks continues. Retail trade Is small, af fected bv the unseuaonabla warm weather, but rent'its from urnst ft the leading cities are quite satisfactory and reflect a cheer ful view as to the outlook. With prominent railroads signifying their intention, to place more liberal contracts for needed eaulnmcnt next month, the out look in iron and steel is now somewhat brighter. Conditions are -still mixed at lead tnx Die Iron centers. a-tthouKh the acxre gate volume of contracts coming forward Is by no means small. The bulk of the de mand la for Immediate requirements only. In structural steel, current business Is not up to expectstlon. but greater activity Is locked for In the near future. The advance In brown goods and plaids is the feature in the drygoods market, cot tons hae sold freely to Jobbers and manu facturers, but line and fancy cottons did not participate In the activity to any great extent. The demand haa fallen off aince cotton declined. Kxport trade la restricted by high prices. Dre s goods rule quiet, but men s wear scent report a fair business. Orders for snoes again Show some In crease this week, but trade continues con sidurably below normal for this time of the year. The leather markets are generally firm, but the demand Is less active. ro- me.tlc hide markets continue to weaken. Trade 1a on a' moderate scsle and buyers are holding off. mostly because of large re ceipts of cattle In the Wet and the conse quent Increase in the slaughter. Nt'MHER OF Bradt reel's FAIIXRE8 the DECREASED Snuhllest 8 loco to Kerord Is 1007. NEW YORK, Oct. II. Bradstreeta morrow will say: Irregular weather conditions figure largely in the trade reports this week and are held mainly responsible for the rather smaller than expected value of sales, re ported as a whole. In leading wholesale lines, the active buying movement of the last f w weeks seems to have subsided. Shoe manufacturers are a tree ted by unseasonably warm weather. hut there is reported slightly belter feeling in some lines oi worsted kooos, ana raw wool is Arm.
