FRENCH BARK IS READY Effort to Brgln Loading Ship Ex pertrd to Precipitate Difficulties. Tnion Demand for High er Scale Not Met. I Should an efrort be made todny to be gin loading the French bark General de Bolsdeffre. mhlch was yesterday shifted from Victoria dolphins to the elevator dock. It Is expected difficulties will arise, as the wage controversy betm-ecn the Grainhandlers" Union and the exporters has not been settled. It was said last even In that orders had been issued not to start wheat into the ship's hold, as she has 15 lay days and that there Is no hurry. About the same time a report came that the grain handlers would refuse to move wheat on the dock unit -40 cents an hour was forthcoming. No Intimation' of Trouble Heard. Peter Kerr, of Kerr. Glfford & Com pany, chairman of the exporters com mittee, said he had tecelved no Intima tion that trouble would follow, although he admitted there had ben no new con tract slcned with the union. Members of the union asked a few months ago for an advance of from 3i cents to 40 cents an hour, which was denied ana since then negotiations have been reopened with the expectation of Inducing the union to accept the former scale. The General de Bolsdeffre is under charter to the Northwestern Warehouse Company. She will be an early October ship and the flrM to g -t away with new crop wheat, while the British baik An dromeda will be a close second and may start taking cargo the la.t of the week. The silence of the grainhandlere Is re garded as ominous by many, particularly among those Inclined to the view tluit if the gTalnhandlers strike It will Involve the longshoremen, who have not signed new contracts with the stevedores. The former agreements expired September 8. Strike Would Hurt I'ort. A prolonged strike would probably re sult seriously for the port, as a large fleet of grain carriers Is due before No vember 1. While a few days may he taken advantage of by exporters, the charter parties enforce demurrage for delays after the period of loading. On the other hand a cessation of exporting would sadly handicap Portland's prestige in this respect. Vigilant Beady for Service. Work of overhauling the launch Vig ilant., which Major Mclndoe. of the Corps of Engineers. U. & A., recently obtained from the Puget Sound dis trict, has been completed at the Gov ernment moorings. The craft has been used about that plant for towing pur poses, but it is expected that she will be sent shortly to Fort Stevens. She Is decked over forward, and is of the cruising type, so there are accommo dations for several persons. The launch Mohawk, which has been added to the equipment of the dredge Chinook, In place of the steam launch formerly in service, is filling the requirements, and is being counted on for valuable work as a tender. In order to let strangers and travelers know how to reach their destination and where to be taken care of after their arrival: by schools, colleges, church societies and other worthy Institutions, in order to In form the public of their-objects and aims. Then why should 'this same privilege be denied the physician whose mission, most essential of all to man's earthly happiness, is to tell sick people where they can get well? To truthfully and honestly adver tise Is'Tiot only the legal privilege of the Specialist, but it is a moral duty. If he haa- studied and thoroughly mastered a single class of disease, thereby acquiring knowledge and skill that would benefit and bless mankind, he should say so through the medium of the press. That Masons bore a prominent part in the stirring days of the revolution, which brought a free Government to the 13 colonies, will be shown during the course of lectures to be delivered this Winter by Ainsworth Chapter of Rose Croix, of the Scottish Rite. B. B. Beek man was the first speaker selected for the Winter course, and last night lec tured to a large audience on "Alex ander Hamilton." In introducing the speaker Wallace McCamant, wise master of the lodge, referred to the chaotic condition of Masonic records of Revolutionary days, but pointed to the undeniable proofs that such leaders of the American troops as General Joseph Warren, Gen eral Philip Schuyler, of New York, Gen eral Israel Putnam, of Connecticut, and the famous leaders who came to Amer lea from foreign shores Lafayette and the Prussian. Baron Steuben were members of the fraternity. Mr. McCamant referred to the Win ter at Valley Forge, when the Ameri can troops were footsore, hungry and discouraged, and pointed to the re searches of Masonic students in dem onstrating that the men were largely kept together In the Battle of Independ ence by the Masonic gatherings, which frequently were convened around the catnp fires, and with the stars for covering. Mr. Beekman delivered a scholarly address on the life of Hamilton, dwell ing at some length on his connection with the drafting of the Constitution of the United States, which has come down through the years without many changes In the original. It was shown beyond doubt that Hamilton was a Mason of note in the days of the war against England: that he visited the gatherings of his brethren, and that he was trusted to a large degree by George Washing ton, afterward grand master of the Grand Lodge of Virginia. Mr. Beekman again called attention to the fact that many valuable records of the Masonic meetings of 'Revolu tionary days had been lost because of the fact that lodges could not meet In stated places, and frequently the of ficers presiding .at one sessiou of a lodge never again met the brethren who were then present. Because my treatment is ample, scientific and thorough, mv cures are complete and lasting, and my patients have no relapses, cor the same reason I am usually able to ure in' much less time than is commonly required in obtaining but partial results. I treat for real and lusting cures. Every remedy 1 employ has its part in bringing positive and permanent results. Under my treatment the patient who notes improvement in his condition can feel assured that leal benefit and not a tem porary drug effect has been obtained, and can continue with confidence that a thorough cure is being accomplished. Contracted Ailments The serious results; that may follow neglect of contracted ailments could scarcely be exag gerated. Safety demands an absolutely thorough cure in the least possible time. I have treated more cases of contracted ailments than anv other physician upon 'the Pacific Coast. Alv cures are thorough and are accomplished in less time than, other forms of treatment require In producing even doubtful resulta I employ reme dies of my own devising, and my treatment is equally effective In both recent and chronic cases. I Treat Men Only Obstructions The vast .multitude of men who have taken my treatment have not been disappointed. They know that I do not promise more than I per form. To them I have actually illustrated in the cure of their own cases the truth of what I claim' namely, that my treatment is as certain to cure as it is that my patient engages my services and follows my directions. Mv success is due not alone to education, experience, skill and scien tific equipment, hut to the fact that I limit mv study and practice strictly to ailments of men. To male maladies alone I have earnestly and ex clusively devoted 25 years of my life, and on them all my faculties are concentrated. In the treatment of obstructions I have apain triumphed over surgery. The reason hundreds of men today are discouraged is because they have given no care to whom they entrust ed their case, their precious health. Thev do not consider the ability, professional standing and reputa tion of the physician or speoiallst of whom thef took treatment, but have considered far more the fact that by not going to a specialist of ability they could get cheaper treat ment. Such is not the case, because It requires ability and skill to citre any one of the ailments to which I devote my full time and attention, and the specialist who possesses the ability to cure, gets all the business he can attend to. If you are today discouraged because you have not been cured it is your own fault. You have no one else to blame but yourself. If you have sought treat ment and are not cured, it is simply . because of the fact that you have not thought enough of your health, your life, to pay the price of a com petent, reliable specialist, who pos sesses the ability necessary lo cure - you. The one thing for any man to consider Is simply this: I want to get cured. I must get the aliment conquered before It conquers me." If you look at this matter from this standpoint, valuing as you must do your future health and happiness, you will consult at once the BEST and MOST RELIABLE specialist, one whom you know from his per manently and long-established reputation to be the best, and If your case Is placed with him the cure will surely follow In short order. LASTLY, REMEMBER, there Is no man who really desires to be cured who cannot place his case with me.
