H1LLSBORO, Or., March 29. to the Editor) 1 noticed in The Oregonian on March 16 that I was indicted and in jail in Hillsboro for shooting at J. A. Thorn burgh's automobile. This is an error, for I did not shoot or even point a gun at his automobile, but was acquitted by the grand Jury and Mr. Thornburgh was foreman. J. W. DONOVAN. HILLSBORO, Or., March 2S. J. W. Donovan was brought to Hillsboro on a John Doe warrant, charged with pointing a firearm at a person. It appears that an auto driven by John A. Thornburgh of Forest Grove, and at the time foreman of the grand jury, passed the Donovan ranch. While in front of the farm a cow ran In front of the ma chine for some distance. Simultaneously young Donovan emerged from the house with a gun and persons in the auto thought that he was enraged over the chasing of the cow, which would go neither to the right nor left. The men in the machine heard a shot or think they did and supposed that Donovan shot at them, or the machine. The cow did not belong to the Donovans, and the young man adhered to the story that he neither pointed nor fired the gun, al though he had been shooting at a target prior to the appearance of the machine. The grand jury took no action on the case, the young man being then dis charged. The Donovans have always borne good reputations. A woman who is sick and suffering, and won't at least try a medicine which has the record of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, is to blame for her own wretched condition. There are literally hundreds of thousands of women in the United States who- have been benefited by this famous old remedy, which was produced from roots and herbs over thirty years ago by a woman to relieve woman's suffering. Read what these women say: Camden, "N". J. " It is with, pleasure that I send my testlmo- . nial for Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, hoping- it may induce other suffering- women to avail themselves of the benefit of this valuable remedy. 'I suffered from pains in my back and side, sick headaches, no appetite, was tired and nervous all the time, and so weatc I could hardly stand. - Lydia IS. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound made me a well woman and this valuable medicine sball always have my praise." Mrs. W. P. Valentine, 902 Lincoln Ave-, Camden N. J. Buffalo. N. Y. "I am writing to tell von I that I am pleased with your medicines. I had been sick for a long time with prolapsus. I heard about Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, and 1 have found that it is the right kind of medicine for me. I felt relieved after taking one bottle and I kept on taking it till now I am well and strong, and am able to do my work. Mrs. Henry itossow, 4712 Genesee Su, ii3uiiaio, x. Since we guarantee that all testimonials, which we publish are genuine, is it not fair to suppose that if Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Com pound had the virtue to help these women it will help any other woman who is suffering from the same trouble ? For 30 years Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound has been the standard remedy for (female ills. No sick woman does justice to herself who will not try this famous medicine. Made exclusively from roots and herbs, and has thousands of cures to its credit. WOMEN ROUT SURVEYORS COMMITTEE FAVORS PLAN Property Owners Remote From Pro posed Opening Declare Cost Too Great and Their Property Is Xot Benefited Whatever. Morrison street, from Chapman to Twenty-first streets, will be opened, if the City Council adopts the report of the committee on streets, voted yesterday at a special meeting. After hearing the ob jections of F. W. Mulkey and others, and I the statements of some who favored the proposed opening, the members of the committee recommended to over-rule the remonstrances. The argument of Mr. Mulkey and those unfavorable to the opening of the street as stated is that their property has been taxed too heavily by the viewers. Some say that their property is really damaged instead of being benefited. This argu ment, however, did not. seem sufficient to the committee, and Councilman Wal lace moved that the viewers' report be adopted and the remonstrances be over ruled. Statements' of those Interested were then heard, after which the vote was taken on the report, with the result stated. , The excess of damages over the bene fits will reach about $170,000, and it is said that some of those who have remonstrat ed will carry the case into the courts be fore they will submit to the opening under the report of the viewers, owing to what they allege to be unfair assess ments for benefits. Property as far east as the Morrison street bridge has been assessed for bene fits by the viewers, but it is declared by Mr. Mulkey and others having property east of Fifth street that there is to be no benefit to their property whatever; but they state that there is great benefit to property in the immedi ate vicinity of the proposed opening. The proposed opening of the street is an old question, and has been in the Council for a long time. By many it is believed to be necessary to open the street to traffic and by others it is held to be unnecessary. There was a contro-. versy for a time as to whether the street had been opened many years ago by the action of the Council, but the City Attorney held that this would not be fnnd so in court, as people had settled State Employes Are Driven From Farms With Shotguns. P'or 25 years I have specialized in treating the disorders of men only. A great many people do not seem to under stand the difference between the regular practitioner and the medical expert who has devoted his life study to say, three or four complicated ailments. They seem to be under the impression that any physician cures any ailment with equal success. It is an everyday experience to have a patient say: "I have tried nearly every remedy sold bv druggists for my trouble," and the in variable verdict Is, "No bentfit." Another will say: "I have been treated by several family physicians in my neighborhood who thought they could cure me, but the result! proved otherwise." DR. TAYLOR, The Leading Specialist. PAY AFTER I HAVE CURED YOU More Men Might Be Well There are scores and hundreds of afflicted men who believe their cases incurable because treatment of the past has resulted in failure, and who through this belief are being deprived of the full and com plete health that might be theirs. I do not claim that there are no in curable cases, but I do claim that many cases absolutely incurable by such treatment as has been given them will yield promptly to the cor rect and scientific methods that I exclusively employ. I offer free con sultation and will accept for treatment no case unless I am confident of mv ability to effect a complete cure. This is meant emphatically. I say that vou can be cured. I stand ready to back up this statement with proof. "I ask you to call at my office and talk with me about it. Examination and consultation will cost you nothing, and I will ex-' plain to you mv methods of curing. Tho methods I will tell you about are unlike those employed by any other doctor. They are. in their chief essentials, methods of my own devising. They are founded upon a knowledge of the truth in regard to the ailments of men. That's why they cure, and why they are the only methods that can soundly and thoroughly cure. My Successful Treatment for Ailments Dosing the system with powerful stimulants and tonics in an effort to restore health can have but one final result: The condition is ren dered worse than before. "Ailment" ts merely an Indication of a low form of inflammation, and this inflammation is but aggravated by stimulating remedies that excite temporary activity. I employ the only scientific and fully effective treatment for ailments which effects a p'ermanent cure. By my direct-method treatment I obtain complete results in every case I treat. Varicose Veins. Its Complete Cure Without Surgery Those suffering from varicose veins or any other ailment tending to destrov and disfigure and to render happiness impossible, are urged to call upon me without delay. Those wasting valuable time, dissipating their money and aggravating their ailment by submitting to indirect, ineffectual, unscientific treatment that never did and never can cure, are invited to visit me and Investigate my successful system. I posi tively guarantee results in all curable cases and frankly refuse to ac cept any other cases, if for any reason it is too late to guarantee a cure. Under my treatment the most aggravated cases of varicose veins are cured. There is no pain, and it is seldom necessary that the patient be detained from his occupation. Normal circulation is at once restored throughout and the natural processes of waste and repair are again established. If you are afflicted with varicose veins consult me at once. Delav can but bring on aggravated conditions and nervous com plications that will involve the general health. Men's Ailments Every case I treat is'cured thoroughly. My patients have no relapses. When I pronounce a case cured there is not a particle of Infection or in flammation remaining, and there isn't the slightest danger that the ali ment will return in its original form, or work its way into the general svstem. Some ailments are less serious than others, but none are so trivial as to warrant uncertain methods of treatment. I especially solicit those cases that other doctors have been unable to cure. Examination and Advice Free I offer mot only FREE consultation and ndvtoe, but of every csme that roinrs to me I villi make a careful examination and dlaarnoals without charge.
