15 VETERAN WANTS PLATFORM Not Office, but Principle, Moves Advocate of Assembly. BAKER CITY. Or.. Feb. 22. (Special.) One o tlie most stalwart Republicans of Oregon Is T. B. Lltti-, of Baker City, who has voted the Republican ticket since "VS'hig days and never aspired to or held a public office. It was Mr. Littigr who Introduced the following resolution at the Lincoln Club banquet in this city on February 12: Bo It resolved by Republicans of Baker County assembled: First That we believe In the fundamental principles of the primary law. Second That party -harmony Is necessary to party success and to that end and for that purpose there should be a party plat form aid a thorough and efficient party organization.. Third That we are In favor of an as sembly to be held by Republicans to adopt a party platform, and in the solo Interest of party success and party harmony. Fourth That the members of such an assembly should be Republicans whose sole object and aim without regard to personal choice or personal Interest, would be to recommend a good strong clean ticket to be submitted to the Republican voters of the state and county at the primary election. Its first appearance was noted last evening in a slight barometric fall on the north California coast. This morning It had Increased In Intensity and was causing rain over Northern California and rain or snow over Western Oregon. To night It has moved northward to the mouth of the Columbia River, while the high pressure area Is apparently central over Montana, where the temperature at 6 P. M. was 14 degrees below zero at Helena. Pre cipitation has occurred In Southern Wash ington, Idaho. Montana. Oregon and in the northern section of California. Nevada and Utah. The winds along tho coast and Puget Sound have decreased in force, the only maximum velocities reported being 48 mlies an hour from the east at Tatoosh Island, and 30 miles an hour from tho east at ."orth Head. Conditions are favorable for rain or snow over this district today, with moderate east, shifting to southeast winds. FORECASTS. Portland and vicinity Rain or snow; lightly warmer; light southeast winds. Oregon Not much chango In temperature; light variable winds, mostly southeasterly.
