Detectives Staab and Anderson, charged with larceny in connection with the recent Hartje divorce case, were found guilty today and were recommended to the mercy of the court. Judge Evans charged the jury that Staab and Anderson were guilty of larceny. They had no right, he said, to take any thing from Madine's trunk, because there was nothing there belonging to them. Anderson had testified that keys were used by Staab and himself to open the trunk of Madine, the coachman co-respondent, and get the alleged letters of Mrs. HartJe. Cubans Refuse Vaccination. HAVANA, Feb. 1. The health author ities are having difficulty "with the resi dents of the zone surrounding Las Ani mas Hospital, where the smallpox has spread. The people strongly object to vaccination, and are trying to move away rather than submit. The health officials are doing their best to prevent escapes, in order to avoid a further spread of the disease.
