12 THE MORNING OREGONIAN, SATURDAY, DECE3IBER 1, 1906. SONORA ROAD IS TIED UP Trainmen Strike to Secure Release of Engineer Who Killed an Indian. TUCSON. Arir., Nov. 30. The Sonora Railroad, which is the Southern exten sion of the Southern Pacific System from No Kales, Ariz., to Guaymas, State of Sonora, Mexico, is completely tied up as a result of a strike which has as its object the securing of the re lease of Jesse M. Reitz, now held at Hermoslllo, on a charge of manslaugh ter. Reitz was the engineer of a pas senger train which killed a Yaqut In dian while the latter was walking on the track near Hermosillo Saturday. Reitz was arrested and at a prelimi nary hearing Tuesday was held for trial in default of $5000 baiL By preconcerted arrangement, all trains on the road were pulled Into Hermosillo yesterday and abandoned by the orews, who refuse to move the trains until Reitz is released. No train men can be induced to cross the line from Nogales to help break the strike. American Consul Brickwood, of No- gales, and Vice-Consul Hostetter, of Hermosillo, are working on the matter. Representations have been made to the authorities at Washington and the City of Mexico. MEETING NOTICES. RATHBONB BISTERS, attention! ReffU- in ........ nf Tv.ro. T.mnln TNTo.
