12 THE MORNING OREGONIAN, FRIDAY. JUNE 29, 1906, GREENWICH INLAID LINOLEUMS WILL DO THREE THINGS: THEY BEAUTIFY THE HOUSE THEY SAVE LABOR, THEY SAVE MONEY It may be possible to keep a kitchen not covered with inlaid Linoleum scrupulously clean, but jt is certainly difficult. It is drudgery. Such a kitchen will be a far less attractive and cheerful place than one covered with a bright, well-designed Linoleum. Moreover, it will be an expensive kitchen, for the cost of frequently renewing the paint soon exceeds that of the inlaid. Greenwich, an imported English Inlaid, can be scrubbed with any kind of soap, and will wear like concrete. Ve carry a large number of fine designs. Price, Laid, $1.50 to $1.85 Sq. Yd. J. G. MACK & CO, Exclusive Carpet House 86-88 THIRD STREET PHIL METSCHAX. President and Manager. Seventh and Washington European Flan - CODE SEALS HIS LIPS TIGHT Member of Gang Dies Without Giv ing Name of Assailant. NEW YORK, June 28. To add to the chapter of murders yesterday, Thomas Petto was found about 2 o'clock this morning with a pistol wound In his back, lying on the sidewalk, on Forsyth street, one of the most densely populated sec tions of the city. He was alive and con scious, but when the police asked him the name of his assailant he pleaded the Kiist Side "code of honor," which pro hibits a man assaulted from giving any information to the authorities. Then, declaring he would get even, and that there had been "no trouble in which the police had any interest," he was taken to a hospital Just a few moments before he died. The iPetto case illustrates one of the most peculiar phases of criminal life on the East Side, where "gangs" are in con tinual feuds and where murders are fre quent, but where the slayers are seldom caught because of the refusal of persons assaulted to assist the police.
