Nice Northern wool sells In a small way at about COc. clean, middle county at 47Q4.Sc. and good Fall wools at 439 43c. There, la little doing In these wools In the West. The Reporter quotes Oregon wools at Eastern seaboard markets as follows: Eastern staple. 18817c per pound; Eastern Oregon choice cloth ing. 14813c; do average, 13814c; do heavy, 12 8I2c; Valley Oregon No. 1. 19820c; do No. 2, 19820c; do No. 3. 18819c; do lambs, 18317c Mohair Is being sold within the range ot quo tations, most ot the lots being small. The New Tork mohair market continues strong, the consumption being -mutually large. The popu larity of taohalr fabrics In plain and novelty weaves for women's wear Is principally re sponsible for the big consumption of domestio and foreign mohair. Prices for luster mohair at New Tork range from 80835c. according to grade. COUNTRY PRODUCE The butter market Is firm, -with comparatively light receipts. The lower quotations made last week stimulated the demand, and now so morels coming In than can be readily disposed of. Eggs are also firmly held, though receipts yesterday were heavier than they have been for several days. Poultry was llkwlse more plentiful, the high ruling prices Inviting larger shipments from the country. Up to the present, there has been no break in quotations, but it the supply con tinues to Increase, prices will naturally weaken. FRUITS AND VEGETABLES-Strawberrlea are becoming a common article on Front street, and will soon be plentiful and cheap. The quotation yesterday was 31 per crate. Orangea are again is good supply, but are firmly held. Apples are also plentiful. Bananas are scarce and correspondingly high, and the prospects are for a market entirely bare In the near future. The vegetable market has been fairly well supplied during the week. A car of cabbage relieving the scarcity ot that article. Aspara gus Is abundant, several large lota having been sent up on consignment. POTATOES AND ONIONS The potato mar ket is a shade weaker. The firmness of last week was due to better values prevailing In San Francisco, but heavy shipments from here have had the effect ot altering the situation there, and the market here has sympathized. The last steamer took down about SOOO sacks, and probably as many more will go on the next boat. The Indications now- point to a low er market In the immediate future. The onion markets here and at San Francisco are dull and unchanged. GROCERIES; -MEATS. ETC No change has occurred in any ot the Important grocery sta ples during the week. Sugar continues firm and coffee weak. Meats have ruled generally active. Beet Is none too plentiful, and Is Uc higher and Arm at that. Sheep are now coming In better. Hogs have weakened under freer arrivals, and the trade looks for a decline soon. Veal is plenti ful and weak. One feature ot the trade during the week was the dally shipment ot a carload of meat by the Union Meat Company to Ta coma. These shtpmanta will continue until the Pacific Meat Company rebuilds its packing house there. Hog products are all as last quoted. Marlon Connty Hop Contractu. SALEM, -April 29. The stock market waa still restricted to a very narrow, profes sional channel today, but it got through the day without the recent customary reversal ot the course of prices. For several days with the diminishing volume ot business, the tend ency of the market haa been to retrace In the afternoon the course taken in the morning. Today the course was upward throughout, and professional traders seemed to feel no solici tude about leaving their contracts open over night. The market dosed at practically the highest level, and with a notably firm tone. The Improved, tone was largely due to the sympathetic effect on the general list of a very persistent absorption ot the Erie stocks, which left the common 1H, the first preferred 2 and the second preferred ZH higher than last sight. Copper rose early, in response to a sharp rebound In the price ot London copper, but lost most of the gain when the London copper inarket ran off. The reaction In the silver market had some early effect on "Mex ican railroad stocks, but they rallied in com pany with the rest ot the market. The shipment today ot 3500.000 rold to South America followed yesterday's similar shipment to Farts. Is keeping alive conjecture as to a continued outward movement ot gold. The sus- tainea nrmness ot the London money market and the doubt as to the hoped-for reduction tomorrow of the Bask ot England discount rate caused some reflected depression early, but London afterward turned buyer of stocks here and helped in the rally. With the announcement of the franchise tax decision, professional traders were Inclined to take the view that all ot the bad news Imme diately expected waa sow known and the mar ket reasonably secure against dtpreaslng fac tors. Money continues to work easier. There Is .little demand tor time loans for the shorter periods, owing to the" Inclination to depend upon the call loan market. For periods carry ing over the crop-moving season, the demand Is more general, and rates are firmly held at 8 per cent for January maturities. But sup piles offering, even for the longer periods, show an increasing tendency. The increasing supplies of money affect the bond market more distinctly than stocks. A wide variety of Issues was dealt la today, al though the price movement still continues somewhat Irregular. Tout .tales, par value. $2,132,000. United Slates 2s advanced 4 on the last call. 8TOCKS.
