Five at-risk youth graduate South Jetty High School WARRENTON — Nathaniel J. Jean- notte entered the Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) in December 2012 with 1.5 school credits to his name. Jacob J. The graduation cere- mony was held at OYA’s North Coast Youth Correctional Facility in Warrenton. “Today we have the most diverse group of graduates I have ever had the chance to be involved with,” South Jetty Principal Rich Glinert said. “How is that you ask? That’s diversity, right?” Glinert gave each graduate a hardcov- er dictionary along with their diplomas. When I have a chance, I plan on going to college to provide myself with a better future for me and my family.” OYA Director of Inclusion and Intercul- tural Relations Maria Chavez-Haroldson complimented the graduates on overcom- ing numerous challenges and obstacles that might have deterred other young people. “You’ve come far and will go further is $5. OYA partners with the Oregon Department of Education and lo- cal school districts to offer classroom and vocational education opportunities. North Coast YCF is one of 10 youth correctional and transitional facilities managed state- wide by OYA. South Jetty High School is operated by the Warrenton-Hammond School District.
