The graduating exercises of the Mil waukio grammar school were held Fri day nlgbt at the city hall. The stage was decorated in white and blue with a large flag for a center decoration. The class numbered 18 and made a pretty picture upon the stafio. Tho address to the class was eiven by Prof. J. E. Ca'.avan, county school superintendent. A piano duet by Bernlce and Anne FiBch, and a violin solo by Mra. How ell were well rendered, and Mrs. Pearl D. Wissinger, chairman of tho school board, presented the diplomas. Tho flower shower to the graduates was the closing number, the boys and girls of the class receiving so many that they were nearly covered by the beautiful blossoms. Threats of violence against members of the local draft exemption board were re po'ted last night, resulting in the at tempted resignation of one merabir and the defiance ot his enemies by another. John J. Duddy, a board member, di rected bis resignation to Mayor Rolph, saying that his life had been threat ened if he served. The mayor refused the withdrawal, asfirting that he was not empowered to accept it John B. Campodonlco, a produce dealer, reported also that he had been warned against serving. He declared that he would not permit this to in fluence him. Angelo J. The operators organ ized about three weeks ago and the strike followed the refusal of the com' pany to recognize the union and the discharge of several leaders. Their union was affiliated with the Electri cal Workers and received the support of that organization.
