The ftrat car of cement did not leave our factory until June 9. yet we shipped 43 cara before the end of that month, over 6000 barrel, and we took future order for 13.000 barrels more. In July the sales ran to more than 11.000 barrels, and in August to ;0.136 barrels. Future contracts on hand at present call for 34.051 bar rels." Half Made Cement at OswegoPlantExplodes TWO MEN NARROWLY ESCAPE WITH LIVES DRY KILN IS DAMAGED. Two employes of the Oregon-Portland Cement company plant at Oswego bad narrow escapes from death Thurs day morning, when the kiln blew up at 5 o'clock. The half-made eement was blown through the roof, and portions of the i wuif n-..o rorrlftH 1 flft foot ntt'tv Ttt'n workmen standing within 30 feet of j the plant found their clothes on fire. ' and escaped serious injury only be cause they were near the river and ou' of line of the blast from the kiln. The two . who had narrow escapes were Rert Crego and Harry Hedges. Crego was on duty in the fire-room, but luckily was standing at one side of the doors of the kiln. Hedges was j Just outside. The two of them recov ered from their surprise quickly, and extinguished the fire before any ma terial damage wag done. The damage to the dry kiln was estimated at $500.
