Italn came on us Friday night and atayed with us till we got home. Sat urday morning we went crabbing again and bagged II. We broke up ramp and started on our homeward Journey at 10: 30. The road from Neskosln beach to Three Rivera were In good shape from the amount of rain that had fullrn the night before. From Thr'-e Rivers to Dolph 'we had clay mud, and It took us from 1 o'clock to 4 to get to iHilph. a distance of six miles. From IMph to Grand Itonde It took us three and one half hours. On the way to Grand Itonde we met Ave machines and three Fords going to Ncskowln beach. When we left them the front machine was stuck In the mud and the rest waiting their turn to get through. Fifteen men, women and children were walk Ing In the mud. The Ford cars were loaded m It h provisions and baggage for the parties. Sunday morning still ruining, we got breakfast with a blow torch. We left ramp and drove to a friend's homo. Mr. Allison, near McMlnnvHIn, and en joyed a sumptuous dinner. Starting at 3 q'clm-k and going by the way of Portlund we arrived home at 6:30. feeling Ane but wet and muddy. We had the phonograph with us and play ed at all the ramping places. All the campers Joined us In the music and port. Chinook salmon were running In the Nestucra bay. I would not ndvlnn any one to start on this trip the way the weather Is at present. In their Ford machine, going liy way of Ore gon City over tho Molalla route and by way of Dayton, McMlnnvllle, Sher wood und Willamina and Grand Ronde. The roads through these places were in good condition. At noon we ate lunch near Dolph, The roads from there on wero corduroy and mud but fairly good, so we drove right ulong without any trouble. We camped at Three Rivers the first night out. On Wednesday we went to tho Illg Nes- tuccu river and found fairly good AhIi ing. Three miles from Dolph a tree blockaded the road and we hud to go through a fluid und crossed the stream twice. Three big machines had been stuck and pried out.
