(Special) The regular meeting of tb Oswego City council aa held June 13th. with tb following officer absent, Treaa urer Roaalter and Councilman Fox Tbe minute of tbe pre vtou meeting were read and approved. A motion waa made and patsed approving a bill for three load of road oil at 91.20 I'pon tb report of the street commit tee authorization wa given them for the repairing of several aide-walk and crossings. No other buitne came before the council which then ad Journed. OSWEOO. June 21. (Special) The queation of bettering tranaporta tlon facilities between Oswego and Oregon City ha been a long agitated one and at the present time the pa tienc of the Citizen of Oswego ha reached the breaking point. Under the present arrangement, one I forced to go to Portland and there take an other car for the county seat, whereas arrangement should have been made long before this, whereby tbe direct distance, which U only about U mile, could have been connected up with tbe railroad. Proper transportation facll ltte would not only facilitate travel but would open up new fields of trad ing and prosperity for both localities A movement Is under discussion whereby action is proposed to make application for annexation of this por tion of the county to Multnomah un less the needs of this section are giv en better consideration. COUNCIL TO ACCEPT CEMENT MILL'S OFFER OSWEGO. Ore., June 22. (Special) The council is at present prepared to accept the recent offer of the cement company for a certain amount of ce ment with which to add additional hard surface to the main business sec tion of the city. It Is planned to soon advertise for bids for the contract for the paving and it is expected that aft er a definite understanding is arrived at with the cement company, work will be rushed to an ear!y completion. II said Oswego peopl wanted to trad In Oregon City and would do so If tb transportation means wer available II denied that a weal side Jitney line would compel with th Portland Rail way, Light A Power company, be cause th ralVroad charged but 20 cent to Tortiand, while the Jitneys would charge ii cents. Th council also passed an ordinance authorizing th Issue of M 700.77 worth of Im provement bonds for Division street work. Th plea to take th trad of Oa wego away from their bom merchant and bring It to Oregon City occasioned no little comment and lent additional belief to the fads as stated by th councilman concerning th financial condition of th Oswego Times.
