John Saari, of Portland, was out and spent Sunday with bis father, Mr. Saari and his nephew, Mr. Matteson and family on the Chase's place. Quite a crowd was out to the Lit erary society Friday evening, but on account of sickness and bad weather, a number that was on the program was unable to attend, after a short program it was decided to have a "Mock Trial" which was enjoyed by all. Julius Schleve and Miss Hudson spent Sunday afternoon at Cedardale. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Orem is spending a few days at Multnomah and Portland. A. L. Larklns has a new stumppuller now and expects to make the stumps fly this winter. Delbert Husband, of Union Mills, spent Sunday with Allen Larklns. Strahl, who underwent an operation some time ago at one of the 1'ortland hospitals, is getting along ; nicely at the last report. j A tramp passed through here Sat urday, slightly terrifying a few of the ! ladies. He went on toward Sandy. I The crops this year were fairly good' yielding from 25 to 60 bushels an acre, j the average being about 40 bushels to! tbe acre. The potato crop was fair; and sold at 70c a hundred. Hogs are ! rather cheap, selling for 7 to Sc lb; wheat selling for 90c to $1.00 per) bushel; butter sells for 30c lb., and i eggs for about 40c dozen. There la! a scarcity of eggs at the present time ' as nearly everyone's hens hare gone on a strike. Veals sells for 9c lb. ! Owing to the unusual dry fall, and the continual rains after November 1st there is not so much fall sown grain ; as usual, but what there is looks good. 1 So there is not such a bright outlook for a bountiful crop next year, though no doubt, there will be plenty. Business Good Around Alspaugh A LS PA UGH, Dec. 16. (Special) . There will be a program and Christmas tree at the Currinsvillo school house Christmas eve. A Woodmen lodge was organized at Eagle Creek sometime ago. A dance was given by the Prospect drill com pany, Portland, Saturday night in hon or of the Eagle Creek camp. Business has been very flourishing during the paBt year in this locality. Among the things raised by the farm ers that brought in a great amount of profit were bogs, cattle, poultry and grain. Many of the farmers have pur chased automobiles during this year which shows prosperity. - A saw has begun work on the Clack amas river by Harold Gordon and the Winks brothers for cutting maple lum ber. Edgar Heiple has made many Im provements on bis farm. He has cleared several acre3 of land. The main stock and crop that are being planned for next year are hogs and corn. Tbe people have adopted the plan of those of Ohio for getting rich since they have found that corn is a possibility in Oregon. A num ber of farmers have purchased the Chester White boss. As the year Is drawing to a close we will take a retrospective view of the past year.
