The South Fork Water commission Thursday paid to the city $7344.37 to cover all the costs of preliminary and final surveys which were met by the city. This sum was appropriated by the council during a period of about a year. At a meeting of the South Fork com mission Thursday afternoon, another delivery of bonds, amounting to $S5, 000, was ordered. The money Is de livered to the two local bank by the bond buyers. The total amount of bonds, with the $S5,000 delivery, now I In the hands of the bond buyers Is I $128,000. I The monthly report of Engineer Rands was read to the commission but the engineer was unable to attend the meeting. He spent the day along the upper end of the route. Randall, Frank Whlteman, Carl Joehnke and Joe Davenport A large part of the net fishing grounds of the Willamette river were closed Saturday when the Gill bill be came effective. Thl measure makes the suspension bridge the deadline for net fishing. The net fishing season opened May 1 and the catch so far this season probably bolda the record In the his tory of the last 20 year of commer cial fishing. Fishermen say that their experience thl year show that the deep water from the bridge to the falls I the best fishing ground in the river and that net fishing I practically end ed by the bill. The annual catch In the past has been estimated from $40- 000 to $90,000. Two other bills became effective Saturday which are of great Import ance to Clackamas. One act will make a new Judicial district of Clatsop and Columbia counties and another will cut Washington county from the fifth Judicial district so that Clackamas county. Judge Bagley took his oath of of fice Saturday when the bill creating the new district became an act. Pre vious to his appointment, be was a well known Washington county law yer. The first case brought before Judge Bagley was the suit of the Oregon Acetylene Lighting company against Albtnia Olds, ot Mount Pleasant, for about $195, alleged to be due for in stalling a lighting system. Miller, a resident of Clacka mas county for the last 11 years and well known aa a contractor and build er, died at his home at Meldrum sta tion at 7:30 o'clock Thursday night following an Illness which has extend ed over a period of a year. The body Is being held at the funeral parlors of Myers & Brady until funeral ar rangements are completed. Mr. Miller was born November 11, 1856, in Pennsylvania and moved to Oregon City with his family In 1904. He is survived by his widow, one brother, D. B. Miller, who recently ar rived here from Pittsburg and the fol lowing children: Mrs. Gertrude But ler, of Gladstone; Mrs. Jennie Tale, of Montana; Mrs. C. B. Ptcbard, of Los Angeles; Bruce J. Miller, of Port land, and William F. Miller, of Port land. E. M. Waldron, a native of Clacka mas county and for seven year mall carrier on route No. 1, died at his home, 313 Washington street, Satur day evening after an lllnes of seven weeks. Death was due to typhoid fever. Mr. Waldron was the son of pioneer Clackamas county parents and was born near Oregon City 41 years ago. He was a member of the Oddfellows, the Woodmen and the Solo circle W. O. W. He is survived by his mothers, Mrs. E. J. Waldron; his widow; two chil dren, Guy and Allen Waldron; three brothers, George W. and J. L. Wald ron, of Oregon City, and H. A. Wald ron. of Los Angeles; and five sisters, Mrs. M. E. Harrington, of Gladstone; Mrs. Annue Sperry, of Linn county; Mrs. Gay Waldron, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Christanla Barbur, of Oregon City, and Mrs. Jessie Hyatt, of Wil lamette. Hoots, a resident of Clack amas county for many years, suddenly died Monday at the home of her son, Fred Hoots, Twelfth and Monroe streets. Apoplexy was the cause ot her death. Mrs. Hoots was preparing to leave her son's home for a visit when she suddenly became UL Death came In a few minutes. She was born January 7, 1847, in Iowa and la survived by three sons, Oscar Hoots, of Ashland, and Fred and Harvey Hoots, of Oregon City; and two daughters, Mr. F. Yea ger, of Dundee and Mrs. D. F. Ulbran, of McMinnville. The body is betd at Myers & Brady funeral parlors until funeral arrange ments are completed. Interment will probably be at Newberg. An eight-year old boy was recently sent by parcel post from Salt Lake to San Diego. The postage was 50 cents.
