Mendanhall was arrested on a war rant that was sworn out a year and a half ago by his wife who is living In Tortland. Mendanhall lives in Lin ton. He claims she had a legal hus band before his marriage to the wo man. An estimate of the hold ings of the company will probably be completed before Friday. HENRY WALLACE, 70, DIES WHILE AT WORK BEAVER CREEK FARMER WAS A RESIDENT OF CLACKAMAS COUNTY 40 YEARS. . Henry Wallace, aged 70 years, died at 9:30 o'clock Thursday morning of heart failure. At the time of hia death he was living about six miles from Heaver Creek. He was well up to the last, and the morning of his death be was attending to the daily work of feeding the farm animals. Henry Wallace was a native of Ger many. hen a young man, he came to this country, and settled Id Clackamas county. He was a resident ot this county for about 40 years. Henry Wallace is survived by four children: Mrs. Emma Dullard, of Mo lalla; Earnest Wallace, of Colton, and Louis and William, living near Denver Creek. The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment will be at the Clark cemetery. LUMBER MILLS REOPEN Calumet, Mich, March 31. HISS CLARA POTTER E OF CITY Miss Clara Totter, u native of Ore gon City, died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Totter Fifth and Monroe streets, at 7:30 o'clock Tues day evening after an illness ot two years. Miss Totter was born December 28, 1S56, and has spent almost all of her life in this county. Death was duo to bronchitis and pneumonia. She is sur vived by her mother: one sister, Em ma Davis, of Oregon City, and Gil bert C. Totter, of Camas. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Morroy, of Marshfield, started to- lght for New York on his way to France to take charge of a hospital unit at Calais in the service of the al lies. He will leave New York April 11, and go by way of London. He will have four assistant physicians and two nurses In his unit, and there will be hundreds of cases a day to treat. TENANT Swedish ARMY BEFORE EXPECTED CALL TO JOIN TROOPS, NOW MOBILIZING SIgny Hauan, of Tortland, and Lieu tenant Hilding Sarleson, an officer in the Swedish army, were married here late Saturday afternoon by County Judge Anderson. Henry M. Kimball, a Tortland attorney, and Kate Young Kimball were tbe witnesses. Mr. Kimball said that Lieutenant Carleson expected to be called back to his country to Join the army which is now mobilizing and both be and his J bride-to-be wished to be married be fore be left. The lieutenant gave his adress as the Hotel Oregon, Tortland, although he said that he has been In that city only a few months. Mrs. Carleson has lived in Tortland several year. An attempt was made to keep the wedding secret The party spent the night in Oregon City, rooms having been secured at the Electric hotel by telephoning from Tortland. At one time. Lieutenant Carleson threatened, that unless he could be assured that the story would not a pear In the pa pers, he would not be married. Mr. Kimball said that the party came to Oregon City in an attempt to prevent the wedding from becoming known. The wedding was quiet, only the two contracting parties, the two witnesses and Judge Anderson being present. Lieutenant Carleson was dressed in a business suit and Mrs. Carleson wore a traveling suit
