HILIUKIE PUPILS ARE BEST SPELLERS Mlhvaukle cornered all the honors, excepting only one, at the spelling bee held in that town Wednesday after noon between Milwaukie, WItrhlta. Harmony, Oak Grove, Ardenwald and Spring Brook. The winners were: First division, first. Opal Bowling, or Milwaukie, and second, Ernest Linnett, of Harmony; second division, first, Charlotte Nash, of Milwaukie, and second, Elnora Mul der, of Milwaukie. Superintendent Calavan and M. S. Pittman, of the state normal school, had charge of the bee. Mr. Pittman make a talk before the bee was held. The last spelling match- of the sched ule, which included every school in the county, will be held at Stone schoolhouse this afternoon. FRUIT INSPECTOR IS HELD FOR TRESPASS ESTACADA, Ore, March 17. The inspection and spraying of fruit trees in the Garfield district, near here, will be decided in a test case, the out growth of the arrest on a charge of trespass of Fruit Inspector P. F. Stand tsh, who took upon himself the duty of spraying fruit trees belong to Thom as Yocum, vice president of the Esta cada State bank. When notified, 40 days ago. to spray hla trees, Mr. Yocum refused and the official acted, whereiip he was arrest ed, and the case probably will come to trial this week. As a matter of protection, the Bcntiment of the dis trict has been in favor of inspection and spraying.
