Tracy celebrated their golden wedding at their suburban borne on the outaklrta of thla city Mon day. The day tu alio the 0th birth day of Mr. Tracy. Tracy was born In Jefferson county. New York, and Mrs Tracy was born In Noble county, In diana, and they were married In Lo gan, Clackamas county. Ore., January 25. 1S63. and have lived In this county ever since. , They have six children living Mrs. D. M. Murshall. Norman Tracy, Har rison Tracy, Mrs. frank Thomas, Mrs.. George Deshlclds and Mrs. Edgar Hel pie, all of Estacada and they have IS grandchildren living. On account of sickness In the family of one son, a complete family reunion was not possible. Recently a plan was tried out by the merchants of Estacada, in order to stimulate trade from the outlying sections, of giving away a limited number of free family tickets to the local moving pic ' ture show, on Sutnrdi-y afternoons This plan brought so many farmers and their families Into town that the merchants have arranged to have the local moving-picture theatre, opened from 12 noon until 4 p. m. every Sat urday. The Sandy Fir & Lumber company's sawmill has commenced operation again after a short layoff. This mill has one of the largest payrolls In this part of the country and It means much to Sandy with the mills here opening and wood camps running full blast, business men say a pronperous year is the out look for the district. The second semester of the Union high school In Sandy opened here to day. New classes were started for those who finished the eight grade and for those over 18 years of age. Pupils starting now will be able to graduate with freshmen who began study last September. CONCORD SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCORD, Ore., Feb. 2. On Sun day afternoon at the Sunday school at Concord schoolhouse, Rev. J. 11. Lands borough, of the Presbyterian church of Oregon City, gave a talk to the school. Special music was rendered hv Mrs. Atherton and Mrs. G. W. Der- ry. About 50 are enrolled in the Sun day school now, and the school is progressing under the management of Mra. George C. Brownell. The mem bers of the Sunday school were enter tained at the home of H. Thiessen, by Miss Minerva and Wesley Thiessen, Saturday evening. Games were par ticipated m and refreshments served. The Jitney cafaferla, held at the chapel on Saturday evening was a very successful affair as well as a novel one. The Jitney price prevailed and five articles were served. Chick en pie being on the bill of fare and about 125 people were served. A so cial time followed and Mrs. Albert Pierce read a number of psalms which afforded much fun. A song by the Climber Class was heartily encored. The proceeds, about twenty dollars, will pay for wires and the electric lights. A vote of thanks was given Mr. Giles Caldwell for donating the work on wiring the chapel. On Friday last the 'birthday annl- verjr of James Waldron, their son, John Waldron and family of Oak Grove were dinner guests.' The Federated Congregational churches held its ' first meeting on Thursday last in the ..Congregational church In Oregon City. Delegates from Parkplace, Clackamas and this place were present and with members Mesilames Ostrom and Hart were pat rones and patronesses of the affair. The larger boys have organized a chili, which meets every Wednesday at the Chnpcl. Its aim is on the line of the Boy Scouts movements and boys from fourteen years up are eligible to membership. The W. C. T. U. will hold a recep tion at the Gladstone church on Fri day afternoon. The state president, Mrs. Jennie Kemp, and rtate secretary will speak. Mrs. Moran, of Glen Echo, is president of the local organization and Mrs. McHnrgue of this place, is the vice-president. An aquarium for gold fish has been built at the Emmons' gardens. The gardens which have many beautiful birds and flowers are an attractive feature to tho city visitor. The campfire girls Is soon to be or ganized under the direction of Mrs C. C. Abraham Zelgler Deter passed away at the Oregon City hospital on Satur day evening, January 30. Mr. Deter was stricken with paralysis on Janu ary 22 at the home of his son, R. F. Deter, of this place. The deceased was born In Ohio April 4, 1842, and crossed the plains In an ox team with his parents In 1861, at which time be passed through Portland, which was The Parent-Teachers' meeting held at the school house last Friday after noon was well attended.
