The city council last nlpht referred to Its street committee the request of the Mil waukie Commercial club that the north and south street conunencinR with Ir ving atrevt and continuing to the east city limits be named in consecutive order from East First to East Nine teenth street. In the street naming plan adopted recently by the former city council, these streets were named from East Twenty-first to East Fortieth street to correspond with the streets in Port land, which they would enter if ex tended. The club took this action because It believes that the higher streets num bers would give a false impression of the distance of the town east of the river, and would thus depreciate prop erty values. The club endorsed tlic house numbering plan which was adopted with the street naming sys tem and does not oppose the rentention by Main street of its present name, the changing of Foster Road to Lake Road or the changing of Front street to Mil waukie highway.
