The local Parent-Teacher's Associa tion, has decided to give another series of lectures tinder their auspices this winter, the first of which will be given on Saturday evening, October 17, at eight o'clock, in the Bchool house, by C. F. Hodge, instructor of Social Biol ogy in the University of Oregon, at Eugene. The subject of this lecture will be ".Making the Most of Our bird Life." Don't fail to be present as this is an excellent opportunity to hear a good speaker. Admission is free. Two hunters from the Rose City, with a love for game, alighted at the Say and Graham farms on Sunday morning and had the misfortune to run into the arms of the constable and the Justice of the peace, as Mr. Reed Gra liajn had them arrested for hunting on his property. The Mothers' Club, of Corral Creek school, gave a reception to Miss Da vis, the teacher of their district, on Saturday evening in the school house. A program consisting of a slo by Rev. Mr. Foster, duets by Misses Baker and N. 0. Pay and Mrs. Reed Graham were heartily encored. A millinery game, in which only the gentlemen took part created much merriment, Mr. Elmer Jones receiving the first prize for the most up-to-date hat, while Harry Say was consoled with a cabbage head, for having the least tasto in trimming. Will Schatz, who is serving on the jury at Oregon City, has found time while the lawyers were getting ready, to run home for a few hours between times with his Ford and press out the remainder of his grapes, making a barrel of juice, thereby saving what he could not get the time to sHl. Bob Schatz got his right hand ser iously bruised while working with their engine last Thursday. It is still bad ly swollen. Mr. and Hr3. Fred Orchard are re joicing over the arrival of a baby girl, and the wife and baby have held a sort of a reception every day and on 1 ues day no less than nine came laden with offerings and good wislies. A number of persons from this vicin ity attended the Grange Fair held at Oswego on Saturday, Oct, 10. The morning was cloudy, but a good sized crowd assembled. The dinner served cafeteria style, was a success and the display of farm products, fancy work, quilts, old and new, etc., was good. Mrs. Geo. Pressor, who has been a col lector for a number of years, loaned almost a table full of her antiques, which were examined with a great deal of Interest, among them tea pots, candle sticks, snuffers and tray, and other things which have to be seen to j hA annreriated. The committee on lights for the street had a plan drawn of where tho lights would probably be located and they could be installed and maintained one year for three hundred dollars.
