HOME OF JAMES KELLY AT SILVER SPRINGS BURGLARIZED The residence of .amss Kelly, of Silver Springs, was broken into some time between 4 o'clock Saturday aft ernoon and midnight while the family was away and a small amount of Jew elry was taken. The house Is situated some little distance from any neign- bor so that a burglar could work with safety. This is the second robbery in this neighborhood recently. The building being erected at the Intersection of the Southern Pacific tracks and Eleventh street by W. H. Lucke, of Canby, is well under way and will probably be completed next week. The building will be used as a commission house. The structure is 60 by 100 feet and one story high. A side track will be built from the main line of the South ern Pacific within the next few weeks so that shipments can be made direct from the commission house to outside points. EXCURSION JUNE 24. The excursion of the Haptlst church to Bonnevile, which was postponed from Wednesday, June 17, will be giv en a week later, June 24. All details of the trip will be the same as previ ously announced. SELLS SHOP Canby, Ore., June 12. (Special) Harry Garrett who has owned the local byclcle shop, sold out his place of busi ness yesterday to Norman Staltmarsh. Saltmarsh is also a local man and is well known. He took possesion of the shop today. ELI MADDOX MOVES FROM HEPPNER TO CASTLE ROCK Ell Maddox, fomerly sheriff of Clack amas county, has sold his hotel at Heppner and will locate at Castle Rock, Wash., where he has property interests. BANK WORK RUSHED Canby, Ore., June 12. (Special) The basement of the new Canby bank Is now finished and the forms for the foundation are now being made. The cement work will start In a few days. The work is being pushed to its ut most as the bank is supposed to be put into operation by the first of July. S -FRIARS' CASE Q s The trial of William Wilbur, J. $ Wilbur and B. Barish, known as S the Friars' case, has been set for ? July 14 by Circuit Judge Camp- bell. Originally the case was set ? 4- for Friday, June 12, but Gover- $ nor West' proclamation, declar S Ing that day a holiday forced a postponement PIG STEALERS PLEAD GUILTY; SENTENCED Fred Miller was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail und Martin Lien to CO days by Justice Sievers Sat urday and sentence was suspended. They were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Miles Wednesday on a charge of steal ing and killing a pig from the Nichols stock farm near Parkplace. They en tered a plea of guilty and Miller told of his crime. To the officials the esse appeared to be an exceptional one. Miller told Deputy Miles of the attempt of Hafcr to break Jail and Lien, a Silverton boy, said that this was his first offence. The father of the latter appeared at the hearing and took his son home. WIFE WANTS DIVORCE Charging cruel and Inhuman treat ment, Grace J. Wessells has filed a complaint in the circuit court agalnat her husband, Curtis F. Wessells, ask ing for a divorce.
