School district No. 101, of Clarkt'8, munt hold another special election to rectify the blunders made tit the annual school moisting in March and the Bpecial election April 12. F. M. Manning was chosen a director at the March meeting. W.J. Moldonhauer instituted a contest and Superintendent Starkweather decided in his favor. Manning appealed to the state superin tendent, who affirmed the decision. "While the appeal was pending, however, a special election was held and Molden hauer was elected. Then Manning instituted a contest, and a hearing was had on Monday. On the ground that the special election was improperly called and held while the legality of the election held on the first Monday in March was not yet finally determined. Superintendent Starkweather decided that it was illegal, and that Moldenhauer had no right to the office of director. Sunset lots are close to the mills and stores. F. E. Donaldson. Bryan Coming. Bryan in which ho accepted an invitation to sneak at Glad stone Park on the afternoon of July 12th. His topic will be "Bimetallism." In regard to speaking on other subject he says: "It is the only subject I care to lecture upon. lam aware that yon may prefer some other subject, but you will understand that I am not regularly in the lecture field, and only mak.e en gagements when circumstances seem to be especially favorable and when lam permitted to discuss the subject in which I am interested." The unveiling of the Woodmen monu ment of Henry Stock will take place at cemetery on the afternoon of the 30th with appropri ite ceremonies. The oldest cherry tree in the state is said to be on the farm of J. H. Lambert at Milwaukie. It was planted by Henderson Lewelling in 1847. AVm. H. Youna and Miss Delia Hub bard were married on Saturday evening by Rev. A. J. Montgomery at residence of Robt. Goodfellow on west side. An open meeting of the A. 0. U. W. will be held at their hall on June 8th. A good musical and oratorical program has been prepared for the occasion. Tom Scott was tried before Justice' Schuebel on last Thursday for killing deer out of season and was acquitted on ground that he killed for food only. Geo. R. Dedman of Clackamas, who was convicted of larceny by bailee of $1600 from Mrs. jjora Uorbin, was sentenced to 18 months in penitentiary, Noblitt'8 stable will run rigs to the cemetery on Saturday, Sunday and Mon day, May 29th, 30th and 31st, for the accommodation of the public. The regimental band and recruiting officers of Ballington Booth's Volunteers of America, an offshoot of the Salvation Army, visited Oregon City on Monday and held services in the M. E. church. The East Side Railway Co. has made a proposition to settle the $6800 claim of city and pay $100 per month on same if city will give it a franchise to run a freight car thorough the city while payment is being made.
