Mimmo, who are traveling through the country exchanging bamboo furniture (or broken jewelry or any old castaway thing, captured a prize from an Oregon City lady in securing a gold $10 Oregon beaver coin. The coin had a gold band around it, evidently having been used years ago for a watch charm. It has the historical beaver engraved on one Bide, and bears tho date of 1840, and the Ore gon Trading Company's stamp on the other. It was secured for a trifle, and Benjamin and Mimmohavo been offered $20 for it. Sunset lots are close to the mills and stores. F. E. Donaldson. A gentleman went into Holman's to buy some wall paper for bis parlor and looking through the many samples found some patterns that were fine, de cided upon one. "What is the price of that paper?" As the weather has settled there will be prayer meetings every Wednesday evening at the school house. We have been looking for the road supervisors to work some on our roads, but all in vain. J. W. John Henry Kruse from his labor on earth to his rest above, therefore. Resolved, by the Clackamas District Pomona Grange that we deeply deplore his untimely de ith and do most earnesty sympathize with his relatives and the Oswego Grange of which lie was a worthy and useful member. - Resolved, that we will strive to emu late his virtues, and so live that when wo are called from earth away, it may be said of us, we have done what we could to make the world better. McOord is in Portland at present on business for the Mulino Lumber Co This company's mill is running steadily and turning out first-class rough and dressed lumber. The new shingle mill of Carlisle Bros, is Hearing completion. They expect to be in operation by May 14th . They have first-class machinery and all work will be done in the best possible manner. Mason Kellogg is cutting shingle bolts for the new shingle mill. W. Evans is at present erecting his new residence here. J. E. Carlisle intends erecting a resi dence here this summer. May 10. Ling and mother, Mrs. McKeo, returned from a visit at Stock ton, Oal., last Friday. Mrs.- Jacob' Kober has opened an employment bureau at 7th St Bakery to furnish female help. Max Schulpius will act as one of the ticket officers at Salem during state fair, Sept. 30th to Oct. 8th. The county court has not extended time for payment of taxes and same are due June 1st but by the grace of Grace time will be allowed till court meets in in June.. A "free will" entertainment was given at he Baptist church on Wednesday evening. A good program was rendered and after the playing of games ice cream and cake were served. Justice Dungan of Molalla sentenced John Scott, Jr., of Highland to 23 days in county jail for stealing a bridle and several minor article from John Stubbs of Molalla on Wednesday. Hon. Wm. J. Bryan will will lecture at Chautauqua assembly at Gladstone in July. He is one of the greatest draw ing cards the assembly will have and no one will miss this opportunity to hear this great orator. He leaves for New Yoik after June 1st. Jos. LaForos' officiating. Tho grand court of Foresters mot at The Dalles this week and selected Ore gon City as meeting place for 18U8. A. V. Horn of tho Oregon City lodgo was elected grand junior woodward. The lecture of Hon. F. A. Fulkenburg on Woodcraft at Shively's hall on Tues day evening drew a largo audience and the hall was filled besides many being turned away. The woodsawing contest was won by Maple and Whetson, who received both prizes; time 37 seconds. Between 25 and 30 made application for membership In the Woodmen.
