The session opened with praise ser vice, led by President li. e). Uile of Salem. Addresess of welcome . were made by E. E. Cbarman, president of the board of trade, in behalf ot city, and by V. H. Dye, in behalf of churches, with responses by Rev. J. P. Karruer of Salem. Rev. H. F. Wallace of Portland, fl. Dresser, H . K. Cross and Rev. A Montgomery of thia oity addressed the assembly on "Good Citizenship," after which a discussion of the subject fol lowed . WEDNESDAY. ' At 6 :30 a service pruyermeetin was bold, led by Rev. Scott of Saiem. The report of Secretary Vt. I. Stale) , of Salem, showed there were 279 senior societies and 106 junior in the state, be n? a gain of 39 senior and 12 junior societies during the y?ar. The senior membership is 10,000 and junior 3300 . The 140 senior societies made financial reports showing that more than $2000 had been collected for missions for 12 months. Treasurer Fred Lockley, Jr., of Salem, reported that $431 had been collected from subscription during the year and $399 expended, leaving a bal ance of $32 on hand. Wm. Shaw of Boston gave a very en tertaining address. The following paetors discussed"WhAt I know about Cnristian Endeavorers" : Revs. Deuton.Thonipson, Curtis, Farmer Rogers, Templeton, Polliny, Cowan and Montgomery. During the afternoon reports from the different societies represented were made After which Mr. Shaw made another address. "What Our Church Rrightly Expects of Us" was discussed by Mrs. Gilt, Rev. Thompson and Mrs. 6. A. Green. In the evening Rev. R. D. Grant gave a lecture in Congregational church and Wm. Shaw address the people at the Baptist church. Both buildings were crowded. The decoration in the church were very finj and no doubt represented a large amount , of labor. The die-cnt CE" on the badges wa the skillful work of G. H. Bestow.
